Eoghan Quigg is an Irish singer and footballer that is best known for competing on the fifth series of "The X Factor" in 2008. Quigg was just 16 when he auditioned, and he made it far in the competition. He finished in third place and went on to have a record deal with RCA. Quigg released his self-titled album in 2009.
Simon Cowell was even a fan of Quigg's during the series and initially intended to sign the young pop star to his company SyCo, but Cowell later changed his mind. In 2014, Quigg participated in a competition to determine who would represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest. He finished in second place.
Quigg is from Dungiven, Northern Ireland, and was born July 12, 1992. He found his love for singing at the age of 2 while singing along to Disney animated films. He went on to sing in the choir and eventually participated in school musicals such as "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," in which he played the lead.
Quigg tried out for "The X Factor" when he was still in high school and impressed the judges with his talent. For the first live performance, Quigg sang "Imagine" and received positive feedback from the judges once again.
Thirteen years after he appeared on the show, Quigg is a father to a beautiful baby girl named Emmy Belle Quigg. He shares photos of himself and his daughter on social media, and fans are surprised by how different he looks now that he's all grown up. Outside of singing, Quigg has made a name for himself as a football player as well. In 2015, he joined Coagh United F.C. and then later moved to Portstewart F.C. in the Northern Ireland Intermediate League. He is also an ambassador for a Turkish hair transplant clinic that he says changed his life. Quigg shared with The Belfast Telegraph:
"I was so known for having big hair on 'X Factor' but, genetically, it never looked good for me. My father and my grandfather don't have any hair. As I started to lose it, I saw people getting the procedure done and thought, 'That's a bit of me there.' What's wrong with going and doing something that's going to make you happy? We don't get a lot of time on this earth, so we might as well try and look our best for the most of it."
The singer continued, "I decided I was just going to do it because I was getting a bit older and was thinking, 'In another five years, I mightn't have as much hair.' I wasn't necessarily going bald. I think it was just more receding. I thought, 'You know what? I'd like to get my hairline a wee bit more straight.'"
Quigg couldn't be happier with the results from the transplant. "It was a relief to finally get it done. I think a lot of fellas in society today feel like you have to be tough and that if you're going bald, you have to go bald gracefully, but I felt it shouldn't be like that. Men have insecurities, (just) as women do. I'm delighted. It's the best decision that I've made and I hope it encourages others to get it done," he said.

In 2020, Quigg shared that he still gets recognized from when he was on "The X Factor" sometimes. He said, "You do get the odd person who recognizes you from X Factor and expects you to look the same. They say, 'Wow, you look so different from back then,' but then they realize it was 12 years ago and they're like, 'No way.'"
Quigg added, "My hair is a lot darker and I have tattoos and stuff, but people expect you to kind of look the same. They are shocked when they realize who you are, but it's still nice to be noticed after all these years. I must have done something right, or maybe it was my baby face. I don't know."
The singer lives with his girlfriend Amy, her two children, and their daughter Emmy. When they found out Amy was pregnant in 2020, Quigg said of the news: "We are both delighted, absolutely over the moon … it's fantastic news."
Since Emmy Belle was born in April 2021, her father can't stop posting adorable pictures of her on Instagram. In October 2021, Quigg posted a video of himself holding Emmy and singing to her. The video is precious, and you can see how much he cares for his daughter. He captioned the video: "6 months of the most special little girl."
Quigg also posted a photo of himself with Amy in October that said, "Mammy and Daddy's first night out together since our beautiful girl was born." The photo shows the couple smiling together near their front door, looking very excited for a night out.
