Woman With ‘Artificial’ Big Lips Says Her Love Life Is ‘Disappointing’ Despite Receiving Marriage Proposals

Having had at least 20 rounds of filler injected into her lips, Andrea Ivanova, a 25-year-old from Sofia, Bulgaria, is the self-proclaimed "Bulgarian Barbie" who wants the biggest lips in the world.

Many people may feel uncomfortable with the size of her lips, but she says this is her way of expressing her individuality and becoming more fashionable. She also gets a lot of questions about her appearance. People seemed shocked about the extreme measures Ivanova took to make her lips pouty. Ivanova, however, said she did not care about other people’s opinions.

All of us have our own outlook on what we think is beautiful; for some of us, the size of our nose dictates what is beautiful; for others, it's the type of hairstyle and or someone's long legs. Since we all have the freedom to accentuate our most beautiful features, we follow make-up tips that can help us make the best of what we have. However, some people can take a step further and look for permanent changes in their features with plastic surgery. Though this isn't inherently a bad thing, as plastic surgery has shown to improve the quality of life in many people, it can get out of hand if one opts for extensive procedures. Ivanova may fall into this category, according to people who have seen her photos.

However, Ivanova has admitted that she has had a hard time finding true love. While some people appreciate the way she looks, others have criticized her for having such large lips. Although Ivanova is hopeful, she doesn’t know if she will ever find the one.

According to the Daily Mail, Ivanova is so obsessed with having the biggest lips in the world that she found it necessary to make an appointment at every plastic surgery clinic in her city to have the feature "fixed." In the process, she spent an enormous sum of money. Ivanova said she is going to keep going until she finds the perfect look.

Per the Daily Mail, Ivanova began her transformation in 2018. She said, "I like my new lips a lot, it was hard to eat after the injection and two to three days after the procedure gets more difficult." However, she is far from done and intends to increase her lips to three times their current size so that they will be as fashionable as possible. Every treatment costs about $167, Metro reported

Andrea has been in love with big lips since she was a little girl. She thought that if her lips were bigger, she would be prettier than she already was. "I feel great to have even more but some doctors think it's enough, though I still want them bigger. My doctor said he will do more injections for me but said I have to wait for at least two months," she said.

Women's Health Magazine reported that wanting plumper lips isn't anything new. "Your lips get thinner as you age, but fuller lips are a signifier of youth," Jamie Gordon, an anthropologist, said. "As some women age, they think, 'At least I've still got this part of me that represents my sexuality.'" Gordon also says that fuller lips signal a higher mating potential, which even has a study backing up the claims.

Ivanova told Daily Mail that she loves her lips now, and her followers think that she should make them even bigger.

"There are no restrictions to what I can eat. I think my lips are lovely, I love them. I am not sure if they are the biggest lips in the world but they are one of the biggest, I think," she said.

Ivanova went under the knife (or needle) 15 times in 2019, which tripled the size of her pout. She does not want to stop yet and wants to take it as far as she possibly can. "I have visited almost all clinics for aesthetic procedures in Sofia and I put in my lips almost all kinds of lips fillers," she said.

She posts pictures on her social media page and receives a mixture of compliments and backlash for her oversized lips. "I get thousands of compliments on my lips and on my outfit, and on my vision and style every day from people all over the world. I have both positive and negative comments, but women write most of the negative comments," she said about reactions to her lip size.

Ivanova says she refuses to care about what other people think and wants to be true to herself, however. "There are people who like me with bigger lips and there are people who like me with smaller lips but it doesn't matter to me, because it's important for me, how I like it. Other people's opinion is irrelevant," she told Daily Mail. 

When asked if she thinks her lips are too big, she said, "I can't give any indication of how big is too big, or can lips be too big, because for each person, 'big,' 'bigger,' and 'too big' are different concepts. I'm broadminded and I think people should be free to choose, which one is for them big, bigger, or too big.”

She added, “There are no boundaries for me."

Speaking with the Mirror in April 2023, Ivanova claimed to have the world’s biggest lips. She also talked about her struggles with finding love. “Of course there are many men who like me very much, but there are also those who do not like me,” she explained. “They think that I am strange and crazy.”

Ivanova said that many men privately message her online to offer to take her out or send her money, which makes her “happy.” She even gets marriage proposals from men from all over the world. But this doesn’t totally fulfill her.

"However, I will be happier to meet the love of my life but I don't know when it will happen,” she said.

Ivanova added that she worried people wouldn’t like her because of her “artificial beauty,” but she hoped people would like her for her “kind” behavior and “good manners.”

Still, the woman has had a rough go at love. "So far I have had more and more disappointing love stories and dramas," she said. "Especially in my teenage years when I was abandoned by two of my ex-boyfriends.

She added, "It is difficult for a person to find their soul mate especially when they are different like me."

Though it is not clear when Ivanova will find her true love or be completely happy with the size of her lips – or if she plans to stop the procedures altogether – her free choice and hopefulness propels her forward with her decisions.
