For decades, the invaluable advice provided by the famous columnist "Dear Abby" has guided the decisions of many people around the world.

Pauline Phillips wrote her first advice column on Jan. 9, 1956 in the San Francisco Chronicle. The column became a sensation and continued for years until Phillips passed the torch over to her daughter Jeanne.

Over the years, countless numbers of people have turned to these ladies for advice on a myriad of topics. Every now and then, people write to the column wanting to offer up advice of their own.

This was the case with a lady who dubbed herself as "Wise Woman." The woman from North Carolina offered up a touching tribute to the elderly population, encouraging others to cherish the older people in their life and to not forget about their presence.

'Children and grandchildren, please think about this and remember: The most important thing you can give your elderly relatives is your TIME.'

Wise Woman talks about how much she adores her grandchildren and how every moment with them is special. What saddens the woman is how the elderly are often forgotten. She uses this letter to "Dear Abby" to convince others to reach out to the elderly in their lives so that they are not left alone.

The touching article reminds us all that the only thing that it costs to pick up the phone and say hi is time.

Although Abby agreed with the woman's message, she also said that it was up to Wise Woman herself to be proactive about asking for time.

The message that Wise Woman imparts is certainly important. After you have read it for yourself, be sure that you spread the wisdom to those in you life. A message this critical must be delivered to as many people as possible.
