Back in 2018, 12-year-old Amy Martinez was on her way to school in Santa Ana, California, when a strange woman came up to her, put her arms around her and started to scurry her away while telling her not to cry in Spanish. But Amy was too terrified to cry.

Fortunately, a woman who wished to not be identified saw what had happened and came to Amy Martinez's help.

She had just dropped her own child off at the same school that Martinez was heading to at the time and heard her screaming for help. Initially confused at what was happening, the woman wasn't sure exactly what to do but knew that something had to be done.

She got out of her car and rushed to the girl and the woman and asked the girl if she was okay. The look of absolute terror on the 12-year-old girl's face answered her question. The woman later told KTLA, "Her eyes were screaming for help. I'll never forget the way she looked at me."

Amy will likely never forget the woman who came up to her and put both of her arms completely around her before bringing her away from where she had been walking towards.

According to ABC News, Anthony Bertagna, a corporal with the Santa Ana Police Department, said that the girl was being dragged down the street in a "one-armed bear hug."

What caused the suspect to finally release the child was the anonymous woman thinking quickly on her feet and saying that she was the girl's mother and that she needed her back. The thought that came through the girl's mind at that time was overwhelming gratitude. As ABC News reported, Amy later told the woman who saved her, "I want to say thank you for saving my life and you're my hero."

What do you think of the woman's ingenious plan to say that she is the girl's mother? What would you have done in that situation? Let us know in the comments and be sure to pass this article along to others!
