Woman Left Large Tip For Waitress Only To Discover Money Missing From Her Bank Account Next Day

This story will leave you scratching your head and have you wondering how being generous doesn't always work out the way you expected. This event happened at Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant as Whitney Anderson dined there with her family one evening. She was with her husband and three young children. The bill came to $45.50, and she left a $10 tip to the server.

Imagine Whitney's surprise the next day when she was going over her banking transactions. She was stunned to learn that her server had allegedly somehow gotten into her account and adjusted it. The server took $65.50 instead of the $55.50 total the woman had paid on the bill. Apparently, the server believed that Whitney and her family owed more than the 20 percent plus tip she had given.

That was enough; Whitney Anderson took off for the restaurant to show the manager of Abuelo's what had gone down the night before. Surprisingly, the manager wouldn't challenge the server of Whitney's table that evening. Instead, the manager told her she would get back her $10 in 10 business days.

Whitney stood her ground, demanding to see the original receipt. When she finally saw it, the receipt was a fake, not the merchant's copy. Whitney's signature was also faked, and the tip was boosted to $20 on the faux receipt. The mother of three was shocked and wondered how many other times that server could have possibly embellished customers' receipts.

A TV news station got wind of the Anderson family story and did a report on the air. The embarrassed restaurant manager came forward and reimbursed Whitney the entire amount and apologized. She has since learned that the server had been arrested before for similar offenses.
