Woman Learns About Her Sister-In-Law’s Grand Scheme After Filing For Divorce From Cheating Husband

A female Reddit user took to the r/TrueOffMyChest thread in September 2022, where she detailed that she believed her husband cheated on her, but she later found out that it was all part of a grand scheme plotted by her sister-in-law.

The original poster (OP) began her post by writing: “Cheating is something that I have always had strong opinions about. I have been cheated on before and it sucked. Everyone knows that I don’t forgive cheaters. So when my sister-in-law (my husbands sister) staged an elaborate scheme about my husband cheating I ended the relationship. My relationship unfortunately wasn’t the only one that was affected.”

She  explained that her sister-in-law Lisa, her best friend Emma, and her husband Jamie were best friends growing up.

OP and her husband had been together for four years and married for two. What she didn’t know was that Emma wanted her life partner, and Lisa “made it her mission” for them to be together after her best friend got divorced.

"I didn’t know any of this so I never knew there was a hidden agenda when I a few months into my marriage overheard Lisa talking about how Jamie was cheating on with a married colleague of his," she wrote.

A few months into her marriage, she heard her sister-in-law talking to someone on the phone about how Jamie was cheating on the user with another woman from work. Although Lisa “begged” her not to confront her brother and ruin their marriage, she still provided some evidence.

“She provided me with pictures and texts they were all photoshopped of my husband and his colleague,” she explained.

The woman decided to confront her husband about the issue, and Jamie denied everything and did not apologize. Even though he asked her about where she got the pictures, OP refused to reveal her source as she kept her promise from her sister-in-law.

After they had an argument, the woman went as far as telling the husband of Jamie’s co-worker about the incident, as she thought it was the right thing to do. OP then filed for divorce as well as the partner of Jamie’s colleague.

As she continued to weep amid her divorce at the time, she noticed that Jamie and Emma had been hanging out more often based on their social media posts. OP's husband even spent time with Emma’s children.

Since she was desperate for an answer, the woman got in touch with Lisa’s boyfriend, Mike, to ask about what happened. They later found out that Lisa and Emma had planned everything, which included editing photos of Jamie with his co-worker to make it seem that he was cheating.

Although she got evidence, the woman’s world fell apart as she “went down a deeper depression” as she realized that not only she “ruined” her life but also another family.

Since she got the contact of Jamie’s colleague’s husband, she met up with him to reveal the truth as she wanted to apologize. He didn’t take it lightly as he became furious. She also tried to reach out to the co-worker through social media, but she never responded.

Days after the woman shared her story, she gave an update. OP said she wrote an email about the truth regarding Emma and Lisa’s plan.

OP came home from work one day to find Lisa and Emma with her children outside her building. Her sister-in-law started yelling and threatening her.

Lisa wanted her to call Jamie and Mike to reveal that everything was made up because she was a “pathetic loser.”

On the other hand, Emma just smiled and later told her that Jamie had always had a crush on her, and he wouldn’t believe OP. Since the two women wouldn’t leave her building, she decided to call Jamie to tell them to go.

Later on, her husband later texted her and asked if he could come over. The couple was then able to talk things through. Jamie told OP that he was hurt because his wife would doubt him like that.

OP explained that she loved and trusted her sister-in-law out of all people. Jamie stayed the night and left the next day.

OP said she and her husband had been texting throughout the day and even FaceTime with each other every night. Although her husband told her that he loved her, he didn’t know what to do as he was hurt by what happened.

She noted her husband’s co-worker and her partner were able to reunite. Jamie was also able to apologize to them.

“I really hope my husband forgives me and I promise that I will make it up to him and love him #forever,” she added.

One person commented, "Marriage counselling might be a good idea if you both want this to work." Another said, "I’m so happy that this ended on a decent note and that your husband believed you. This story had me literally so angry for you when it came out. I’m glad you got justice and I hope you and your husband work things out, it just might take some time. Take care."
