Woman Gets ‘Dress Coded’ And Told To Cover Up With A Scarf At Restaurant & Leaves Internet Divided

There is no problem with wearing anything you want, especially when you’re going out for dinner as you could mix and match any style that your heart desires until you feel like it’s the perfect outfit to flaunt to the public.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case for a woman who went to a restaurant fully dressed only to be told by staff to cover up.

A TikTok user by the name of @daramkaye took to the social media platform to share a video in August 2023 where she revealed that a restaurant she went to had a dress code and they made her cover up her revealing outfit.

In the clip, the woman gave her followers a quick look at her outfit — a plunging teal top that barely covered her chest area. She finished the look with a variety of gold chains and pendants dangling from her neck, as well as a ring and a set of pink and white-colored nails.

The outfit looked perfect, but there was one issue — she was covered up with a brown scarf, and she revealed in the caption that it was from the restaurant.

“Yes this scarf belongs to the restaurant… i didn’t know these were the vibes,” she wrote.

The clip also showed a text that read, “When you get dresscoded at an upscale restaurant.”

As of August 2023, the video garnered over 750,000 views, and thousands of likes and comments from social media users.

The woman never revealed where the restaurant was located, and she didn’t give more insight about her experience.

After she posted the video, several online users were divided about the issue as some of them agreed with the restaurant’s dress code, while some were disappointed.

One user noted that people shouldn’t be upset if a certain location has a dress code.

“Why is everybody so upset about a dresscode? If i go to a fancy restaurant I wouldn’t want the other guest look like they’re at the club,” one wrote.

“Why is everybody so uninformed and mad about this. Dresscodes are used in high class restaurants to keep a certain level of prestige and class,” another one noted.

Another user commended the woman in the video for looking good, but they criticized her outfit as they wrote, “You look gorgeous but no formal restaurant would allow that top.” Another wrote, “Then go to mcdonalds if you cry about a restaurants dresscode.”

One commenter asked if there was a sign outside the restaurant that prohibits women from showing a little bit of skin in their outfits. They wrote: “Was it explicitly stated outside? How do they want me to know if my shoulder is allowed there? They should put a sign like in churches or smt... 🙄”

Other people defended the woman and noted that there was nothing wrong with what she was wearing.

“Mortifying. You did not deserve that and the outfit is FINE,” one wrote.

“I’d drop my fork and leave like immediately 😂” one commented.

“Why are women being 'dress coded' everywhere now? Like how are we taking this many steps back? People need to stay out of women’s business,” one wrote.
