Arlene had learned about The Makeover Guy from his book, Staging Your Comeback: A Complete Beauty Revival for Women Over 45.
The Huntsville, Alabama woman describes her hair as "boring." "I want to get rid of the bangs, fix the hair color," she says during her interview. When Christopher asks why she has bangs in the first place, she simply replies, "Because I always have."
Christopher suggests going for a look reminiscent of Petticoat Junction's Bobbie Jo, Betty Jo, or Billie Jo. "No!" she protests. "They were cute!" Christopher insists.

Christopher tells Arlene that her current hair color is actually a good base for highlights. "I feel like warmer than cooler," he suggests for Arlene's hair color. He goes on to say that that red hair will be really flattering for Arlene's skin, but she is doubtful. After some persuading and reassurance that they can change it for her if she doesn't like the end product, they proceed to dye her hair red.
When her hair is getting blow-dried, Arlene asks Christopher: "Are you sure that color is good with this skin?" "No, I think it's really ugly," he replies sarcastically. "That's why people fly in from all over the world to get my opinion."
"No," he says, now serious. "I think it looks really pretty." He heartens her that if after everything is done, including makeup, and she's still not happy with the color, he would darken it for her.
Before going into makeup, Arlene meets with Christopher's mom Joann Hopkins for fashion advice. She advised Arlene on what sort of clothes to avoid (leggings, too much fabric, baggy, wide-legged, harem) and to make sure to dress for her body type.
For makeup, a dark eye shadow was applied on the inner part of Arlene's upper eyelids to keep it from smudging on her face as well as put emphasis on her peepers.
The end result is gorgeous. Arlene's hair is the perfect tinge of red. It's not fiery but it's classy. Upon seeing her, Arlene's husband applauds. "I think it's great!" he tells her.
"It's me. It's definitely me," enthuses Arlene in the final interview.
The comments section is filled with raves about her new hair color, saying how pretty it looks on her.
One commenter wrote, "Oh honey, I get the fear...but he made you look soooo much younger AND much more va-va-vivacious!!! Love it!" Another said, "I love it. I love the color, and I love the cut."
Leaving us with her final thoughts, Arlene concludes: "He knew exactly what I wanted ... The whole thing was fantastic."
