Will Ferrell’s Spouse And Children Show Their Support To The Actor With Rare Family Outing

Away from the spotlight and the bustling nature of Hollywood, star comedian Will Ferrell is a family man at heart. The actor has held down his family unit of three children with his longtime spouse, Viveca Paulin, for over two decades. While the Ferrell bunch is undoubtedly a famous family thanks to Ferrell's ingenuity in entertainment, they are known for staying out of the spotlight and leading an ultra-private family life.
However, for the much-anticipated premiere of Greta Gerwig's fantasy live-action version of "Barbie," Ferrell's family joined him on the hot pink carpet in a rare but delightful appearance. The lovely family of three sons displayed their smart fashion sense on July 12, 2023, as they attended the premiere in London. Ferrell's sons, in their unique auras, bore an uncanny resemblance to him while showing off how much they have grown through the years.
When Ferrell met Paulin in 1995, he had just been getting his entertainment career off the ground. The star has been active since 1991. He and Paulin, a Swedish-born producer, met in an acting class and hit it off from the start. They dated for some years and, in 2000, became married. Notably, Ferrell met his wife the same year he joined "Saturday Night Live" as a cast member. The couple became first-time parents in 2004 when Paulin gave birth to their son, Magnus.
Once speaking with People, Ferrell mentioned that his son's name, which translates to "great one," was in honor of his wife's Scandinavian heritage. Ferrell's second son, Mattias, was born two years later, in 2006, and the couple had their third baby in 2010. The "Elf" actor's sons are all grown now, way past their formative years and gradually coming into their own.
The proud father once revealed to Parade that his sons share his sense of humor. He recalled that his oldest son once displayed a similar trait regarding his comedy style. Ferrell recalled how the youngster borrowed one of his classmate's glasses to pose for the school's yearbook. The star dad shared that he was impressed by Magnus' similarity to him, commenting that it was "totally my sense of humor."
Besides showing they inherited their father's comedy genes, the boys have their own interests. Magnus is a music lover who enjoys playing the keyboard and showing off his talent on social media.
Once speaking about his fellow star's oldest son, actor Mark Wahlberg relayed that he believed Magnus had some connection with his daughter, Ella Rae. In a 2017 interview with ET, he joked that he thought the teenager was "a lovely lad until I found out that he has formed some sort of communication with my oldest child. They're following each other on Instagram."
The middle child, Mattias, is a huge fan of his dad's SNL sketches. Ferrell told Parade that the young boy had been watching his clips since the sixth grade. Axel is the youngest Ferrell boy, and per People, their father once shared that they enjoyed Halloween and even picked out his own costume. The "Anchorman" star stated that one of his favorite things to do was embarrass his boys in the most hilarious ways. He shared, "If they've been mouthing off or something, I turn up at dinner wearing just my underpants to warn them."

Despite making such fun memories with his beloved sons, Ferrell has admitted that parenting does come with its fair share of stress. Once on "The Ellen Degeneres Show" in 2020, Ferrell told fellow actor Jennifer Aniston that being a dad to his sons felt like he was "running a small correctional facility." He shared:
"You go from all the things you read about like conflict resolution, 'I'm sorry that your feelings are hurt,' … within five minutes it's like, 'Get upstairs now and brush your teeth. Shut up, I don't care, why? Because I said so.' … It's like running a small correctional facility. I want to get high-powered water cannons installed so I can just hose them down."
While it is clear that the Ferrell family has their own moments, they know how to show off and show out when it comes to supporting their patriarch. For their rare appearance at the "Barbie" London premiere, the boys looked dapper in suits while coordinating with their parents.
Mattias and Axel rocked dark blue suits matching their mom's blue knee-length pleated dress. Paulin let her blonde tresses fall down on her shoulders while spicing up her glam with a pair of patterned stilettos. Mattias and Axel opted for black and red high-top sneakers.
Magnus displayed his style range in a dark purple suit and a patterned pink button-down that matched his dad's tie. He sported a pair of white sneakers, while Ferrell wore a dark suit and rocked black shoes.
The family posed for several snaps on the carpet, flaunting big smiles. The last time fans got to see them grace the red carpet together was in 2017 when Ferrell's much younger sons joined him at the "Daddy's Home 2" premiere.
