For years, fans have speculated about the possibility of Will Reeve stepping into the red cape and taking flight as Superman. The talented actor and producer, best known for appearing in the 2024 documentary, “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story,” and his commanding presence on screen, has often been floated as a perfect choice to embody the Man of Steel. His late father, Christopher Reeve, is perhaps the most famous actor to don the red cape and play the iconic superhero. Naturally, fans have asked whether Will, 32, would ever follow in his father’s footsteps. But does he see himself in the iconic role?
Will is the youngest child of the late “Superman” actor and touched the hearts of “Superman” fans all over the world when he made a cameo in the upcoming “Superman” film starring David Corenswet as Superman. Like Clark Kent, Will also works in media as a correspondent for ABCNews. However, that’s as close as Will is willing to go as Superman.
Will appeared on “Live With Kelly and Mark,” where he discussed whether he would ever take over the role that made his father’s career. Kelly Ripa expressed surprise that Will has not yet been approached to take on the role of Clark Kent. Will’s father passed away aged 52 in 2004 and starred in several “Superman” movies. His mother, Dana Reeve, was a singer and actress. She died from lung cancer in 2006.

Since Christopher is perhaps the most memorable actor to step into the role of “Superman,” it’s no surprise that his mini-me son Will is among the potential candidates most fans would want to be the next face of the franchise. But does Will agree?
Well, in his interview with Ripa, he gave a short answer to the age-old question:
“No, I’ve never gotten the ask.”
However, he acknowledged that, unlike other actors who have played monumental roles, he is not passionate enough about the franchise or role to work hard towards it. He said he understood that passion is key to taking on a role like the Man of Steel. Explaining this, he shared:
“I learned at an early age from my parents, who were both accomplished performers, that in order to succeed in entertainment, or really anything, but certainly in entertainment, you need to need the craft like you need air to breathe.”
Will explained that acting has to be one’s passion before pursuing roles as significant as the lead in a “Superman” film. While he acted in school plays when he was younger, he revealed becoming an actor wasn’t a grand ambition of his. Ultimately, his passion for journalism was greater.
“It has to be a core part of who you are,” Will described the acting craft to Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos.
“For me, I acted in school plays and things, but that was just part of who I was. I didn’t need it. I realized as an ambitious person, I should channel my energies into the things that I’m really passionate about, which is what led me to journalism.”
