Do you have a friend who you can always go to when you have a problem or need advice because you know they will be 100% honest with you? Having friends who are not afraid to speak the truth is actually beneficial to your well-being since they say the things we most often need to hear.

There’s a big difference between blunt and being hurtful, and blunt friends do not say things to make you feel bad. If you’re being selfish or immature about a situation, they let you know, and you most likely will turn out a better person because of it. Blunt friends are honestly the best kind of friends to have!

Honesty is the biggest part of any relationship.

Being honest all the time doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone will want to be your friend, but you will attract the right type of people who fit your personality. If you’re happy being friends with someone who is not afraid to tell you when you’ve been eating too many breakfast tacos or look like you haven’t slept in days, then you’re a confident person who doesn’t need to be coddled.

Real friends are not afraid to tell you the truth instead of pretty little lies.

This is how they take care of you and make sure you’re staying humble and true to yourself. Wouldn’t you rather know when you’re behaving like an idiot so you can adjust your behavior, or if that new shade of lipstick does not suit you? A real friend points out the chia seeds in your teeth and mistakes in your project so that you can keep putting your best foot forward.

In return, make sure you let the honest people in your life know how much you appreciate it. If they ask for your honesty in return, it’s polite to give it to them. They don’t sugarcoat things for you, so don’t fall into a habit of avoiding the truth.
