What matters is looking at what you have accomplished in life and getting satisfaction out of it. You have a husband, kids, and a good business or career. Be glad about these things. After hitting 40, you slow down on telling others that they are wrong. In fact, this is when you bring your friends and relatives together and be thankful for your accomplishments together. This is what will be making you happy. They will be the people you enjoy spending time with, and this will be beautiful and precious to you.

It is at this age that you set aside worry and learn to be more content with what you have. Annie Dillard said that how you spend your life is portrayed by how you use your days, and this is very true. You become more aware that jealousy, insecurity, and comparing yourself to others will only harm you, and this is not the kind of legacy to leave behind. It becomes easier to fill your life with grace, laughter, security, and positivity.

Nothing else is worrying you at this time. When you were younger, you probably worried so much because you couldn't find your purpose in life or identify who you really are.

After 40, you find the security you never thought existed. You know what you are good at, and this is exactly what you do. You no longer doubt your gifts and are not afraid to go after what you want. You won't wait for anyone's approval to live your life. Maya Angelou once said that life will love you if you live it. So live your life without regrets.

However, you left school so long ago. Plus, you can't remember things from the previous day; how can you recall things from years ago when you were at school?

Most young people are desperate for approval and are easily crushed by criticism. Being in conflict paralyzes many youngsters, and they can do anything to avoid being at loggerheads with anyone. However, after 40, you no longer care what people think of you, your career, business, marriage, parenting, and many more. You soon realize that what matters is where your comfort lies and not other's opinions of it.

You soon realize that your decisions should not be influenced by the circumstance of emotions. At this time, the opinions of others no longer play a major role in the decisions you make every day. As long as the opinions of others are not adding value to your current or future situations, they don't matter. It becomes easier to cut out the negatives in your life.

For most over 40, they realize that they should have enjoyed their youth more.

You are probably thinking of the time in your 20s when you shied away from wearing a bikini and now you can't because your body has changed a lot. Had you known that things would change this much by 40, you would have enjoyed your young body more.

One of the most telling signs that you have hit 40 is your skin. In addition to being saggy, it becomes dry, thin, and sensitive. Age spots will start to show on your face. These changes are mostly associated with the production of certain hormones in fewer amounts. Ageing affects women and men in very similar ways. The good thing is that there are ways to deal with some of these changes including accepting that aging is inevitable.

Research also shows that drinking a lot of water every day can help hydrate your skin making it look younger than it is. Since nothing much worries you at 40, you can laugh loud, stand tall, and love without limits. Real life situations have changed your fears and ego. No one wants to look 60 when they are 40, so learn to take things as they come. By taking life easy, you will age gracefully.
