When A Disabled Passenger Needed Help On A Flight, This Teen Came To His Rescue

Jul 02, 2018 by apost team

Passenger Tim Cook was alone on a flight. Normally, this is no big deal. Tim's an adult, after all. However, Tim is blind and deaf. Although his sister helped him at the airport, it seemed there was no one on board to help him. No one, that is, until a remarkable teen made her presence known.

Clara Daly is an average teen. She's 15 years old and has dyslexia. Like many high school students, she has to learn a second language. Clara chose ASL as her language because of its reputation for being easy to learn. When the flight attendants couldn't communicate with Tim Cook, they needed someone who could sign. Young Clara was the only passenger on board who had that skill.

Clara and her mother were originally supposed to travel from Massachusetts to Oregon on a different flight. But due to a delay, they found themselves on the same flight as Mr. Cook.

Today, they believe they were meant to be there, to help him.

At first, Clara just wanted to help Mr. Cook. He wanted some water. Later, he wanted to know the time. But near the end of the flight, Clara approached him again, just to talk. He was pleased to have someone to converse with. They chatted about their families. Mr. Cook also asked Clara about what she wants to do as an adult. After this experience, we hope she's open to a career as an interpreter.

The story of Clara helping Mr. Cook on the flight wasn't leaked by the Daly family. Another passenger, seated next to Tim Cook, posted pictures and text to let the public know about her extraordinary service. The seat mate had helped Cook with tasks like opening his coffee, but couldn't communicate with him about his needs.
