Wedding Is Interrupted When The Groom Says He Loves Someone Else, And She's Standing Right Behind Him

Towards the end of a wedding ceremony, the priest or ordained minister usually asks the witnesses, "If any of you has reasons why these two should not be married, speak now or forever hold your peace." Typically no one answers unless it's a movie, which usually results in a secret lover of the bride or groom suddenly professing their love. 

But in this video of a wedding in Portugal, the groom interrupted his own wedding.

The beautiful couple, Jessica and Jefferson, stood at the alter surrounded by their family and loved ones, and Jefferson began a speech he had prepared for the occasion. He explained that although he loved his soon-to-be wife very much, there was another girl who had also captured his heart, and she was in that very room. 

And with tears in his eyes, Jefferson faced the girl he loved.

The audience was shocked - until Jefferson turned around to eight-year-old Giovanna.

Jessica had a daughter from a previous relationship, so she was overwhelmed with surprise when Jefferson suddenly knelt in front of her. Anyone who has grown up in a family blended with children from different relationships and multiple moms and dads knows that it can be difficult to develop a close relationship with someone who isn't directly related to you. But Jefferson wanted to make sure there was no doubt in Giovanna's mind that Jefferson wanted to be a good father to her.

With everyone watching, Jefferson promised to love not just Jessica but Giovanna as well.

“If I could ask God for anything, it would be to have you as my daughter. I would be the proudest father in the world to have such a beautiful, intelligent and educated daughter like you . . . I also give you love, my love, to always take care of you, to always protect you and to not let anything bad happen to you.”
