Tiger Woods will go down in history as one of the greatest golf players of all time. He is also one of the most well-known athletes on the planet and has been elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame. However, the athlete is also remembered for his tumultuous personal life. Many will recall the public infidelity scandal that Woods went through with his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, in 2010. Woods admitted to cheating on his wife, and their divorce was finalized that same year.

Nordegren is a former supermodel and nanny that first met Woods when she was working for another professional golfer as a child caretaker. Jesper Parnevik and his wife introduced Nordegren to Woods, saying that they thought the two would be a good match, and the couple was married in 2004. After her divorce from Woods, Nordegren was awarded a large settlement of an estimated $100 million.

Now, in 2021, Woods and Nordegren are on good terms and co-parent their two children, Sam and Charlie. Nordegren also has a child with professional football player Jordan Cameron who was born in October 2019. The former model has also completed her lifelong goal of getting a degree in psychology. When she first moved to the United States as a nanny, it was Nordegren's dream to become a child psychologist.

Woods has been dating his girlfriend, Erica Herman, for several years. She has been with the athlete through his numerous sports injuries as well as injuries sustained from a car accident in February 2021. It was reported that Woods was outside of Los Angeles, California, at the time he was in a serious car crash, sustaining injuries to both of his legs that required immediate surgery. The future of his career was called into question after he suffered a shattered ankle and two leg fractures, one of which was compound.

"It was very fortunate that Mr. Woods was able to come out of this alive," said Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, who was first on the scene. Sheriff Alex Villanueva added that while Woods was "able to communicate," immediately after the accident, he "was not able to get up. That was not an option."

According to the New York Post, "The athlete was traveling alone on Hawthorne Boulevard and Blackhorse Road — a notoriously accident-prone stretch of suburban LA — when he apparently lost control of the 2021 Genesis GV80 and crashed into a raised median. The vehicle crossed two oncoming lanes, hit a curb and a tree and rolled over several times before coming to a stop."

Fortunately, the airbags deployed properly, and the inside of the car stayed mostly intact, "giving (Woods) the cushion to survive what would have otherwise been a fatal crash," Villanueva explained.

Later in February 2021, an update about Woods' condition was provided on his Twitter account. "Tiger has moved to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and received follow-up procedures on his injuries this morning. The procedures were successful, and he is now recovering and in good spirits," the tweet read.

The message continued, "Tiger and his family want to thank you all for the wonderful support and messages they have received over the past few days. We will not have any further updates at this time."

The golfer is now on good terms with his ex-wife,  Nordegren. He referred to her as his "best friend" during an interview on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" in October 2016. "We have Sam and we have Charlie. … And we love them so much that we are going to (do) whatever it takes to make that work," Woods explained.

"(Elin has) been one of my best friends and I've talked to her about so many different things and she does the same thing with me back and forth. We communicate so much better now, it's incredible. I wish we would have done that earlier on."

Woods revealed to Time in December 2015, "Having the relationship that I have now with her is fantastic. She's one of my best friends. We're able to pick up the phone, and we talk to each other all the time. We both know that the most important things in our lives are our kids. I wish I would have known that back then."

He added:

"I've taken the initiative with the kids, and told them up front, 'Guys, the reason why we're not in the same house, why we don't live under the same roof, Mommy and Daddy, is because Daddy made some mistakes."

Now in 2021, both Nordegren and Woods can be seen together at their son's soccer games and practices, along with their daughter Sam. The family may not be typical, but they make the best of the situation, and their kids seem very happy. Both parents have repeatedly stressed that their children's well-being is what is most important in their lives.
