According to Mayo Clinic, Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a condition that develops after a person has been exposed to an event that was very traumatic and is very common for many veterans after their military service.
Symptoms include mental or physical distress, disturbing thoughts and feelings, dreams that bring back military events,, difficulty sleeping, and other changes.
Project Odyssey is a rehabilitative veterans retreat for military PTSD as well as combat stress recovery. Its name comes from Homer’s famous poem that speaks about overcoming adversity and finding one's way home.
The five-day Project Odyssey gives the tools for overcoming obstacles that need to be faced including adventures and healing social participation with other “warriors” and trained counselors to forge new and strong relationships that are critical for mental health.
That includes scavenger hunts, hiking, rock climbing, and other activities that also work for the veterans to rediscover themselves and renew their hopes for the future.
You are welcome to give us your reflections and opinion on these benefits for the veterans with PTSD and how you or a loved one has coped with that devastating condition. Will you be buying that postal stamp?
