Sam Tompkins and his friend Ren spontaneously decided to use a public piano to perform their rendition of "Feeling Good," originally written by English composers Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse for the musical The Roar of the Greasepaint – The Smell of the Crowd.

Onlookers snapped photos and videos as the two friends jammed away.

Two Friends On A Random Day

One of the best things about being friends is the freedom to just hang-out. Sam Tompkins and his friend, Ren, were two average guys doing just that. On this day, they were at a train station when they happened to spot a surprise that would dramatically brighten their day.

The Irresistible Pull Of A Public Piano

Public pianos have become an increasingly common way for communities to integrate the arts into everyday life. Like many people at the rink, Sam and Ren couldn’t resist the pull of the public piano. They quickly made their way over to it.

”Feeling Good” All Around

The two friends had free reign over their musical world and chose the crowd-pleasing song, “Feeling Good.” Ren’s invigorating instrumental accompaniment and Sam’s soulful singing was a stunning display of musicality. The two blended seamlessly together in this rousing performance.

Others Can’t Resist Joining In

The music was so good that passersby couldn’t help but linger to listen. Many snapped quick videos or pictures using their phones to preserve the moment. They were feeling so good that no one wanted the music to end.
