Tom Hanks Says His Marriage Is 'Untouchable' And Gives His Advice For Long-Lasting Love

Legendary actor, Tom Hanks, gushed about his wife country singer Rita Wilson and their ‘untouchable’ marriage on the red carpet.

The pair have been married for over 30 years, Hanks remembers first seeing Rita on an episode of the 1970’s sitcom “The Brady Bunch” and thinking the actress was cute. 

"I was actually at a friend of mine’s house when it aired and I remember thinking 'that girl’s cute," Hanks said to People about his wife Rita on the sitcom.

When speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Hanks opened up about when Rita and he first met.

“When we first looked at each other there was definitely a kind of a, ‘Hey, this is the place!’ I felt that anyway,” Hanks said. “I think the end result is that we got married for all the right reasons.”

Rita similarly talked about the key to her and Hanks’ successful marriage.

 “I think that any long term relationship if you are lucky enough to fall in love and have that spark ignite that its kind of responsibility for both people in the relationship to keep that spark going and to keep that flame going,” Rita said to Access adding, “Over the years and over time you’re going to have ups and downs, it's not going to be all fabulous every second of the day.” 

Recently Hanks went to cheer Rita on at Stagecoach as performed some of her classic hits along with music from her new album. Rita posted a photo from the event of her and a bearded Tom Hanks. She used the photo to pay tribute to her husband of 31 years writing, “Fires need to be tended to, stoked, added to, watched. As long as there is a spark you’ll always have a fire. I love you, Tom.”
