Three of those people are the "Jeopardy" contestants that appeared on a recent episode. During a recent game, the contestants were shown a picture of the actor dressed up as the iconic Mr. Rogers. Hanks plays the beloved television character in a new film.

Surprisingly, none of the contestants knew who he was. The shocking moment quickly went viral, but Hanks hadn't seen the footage until he made an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Kimmel was happy to share the footage with Hanks, and the actor was anything but happy with the contestants flub.

In response to the video, Hanks joked, "You are kidding me! You are kidding me! They don't even have any wrong guesses? Bing, Woody Harrelson? Bing, Mahershala Ali?"

As Kimmel laughed, Hanks continued his tirade, saying, "What was the name of the category? Washed up career choices for $800? Bad casting for $1,000, Alex?"

Kimmel tried to soothe the actor's ego by suggesting that maybe Hanks played the part so well that the contestants couldn't tell him and Mr. Rogers apart.

Hanks seemed pleased with that sentiment and said, "Okay, I'll take that, I'll take that."

In the end, Hanks decided to blame the contestant's inability to recognize him on an inanimate object. "I think actually, they were blinded by the red sweater."

Hanks, of course, was referring to the famous red sweater worn by Mr. Rogers in every episode of his hit television show, "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood."

The show aired on PBS from 1968 to 2001. Fred Rogers passed away in 2003, but his legacy lives on in the hearts of millions of children and adults around the world.

The movie depicting the friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod, "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood", was released on November 22, 2019 to rave reviews. Although the "Jeopardy" contestants hadn't seen the movie prior to their on-air flub, plenty of others have seen it and have enjoyed Hanks performance.

Are you surprised that the "Jeopardy" contestants didn't recognize Hanks in the movie? Do you think Hanks is right about the red sweater blinding them, or do you agree with Kimmel that Hanks just delivered a stellar performance?
