Tom Cruise is one of the biggest male actors in Hollywood, having graced our screens for more than four decades now since the early 1980s.

Born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV on July 3, 1962, Cruise is an iconic actor who has left an indelible mark on the world of cinema. With his charming smile, electrifying presence and unwavering dedication to his craft, Cruise has become one of the most celebrated actors of his generation. Over the years, he has captivated audiences with his versatility, taking on a wide range of roles and delivering memorable performances.

Cruise’s passion for acting emerged at a young age. Born in Syracuse, New York, he made his film debut in 1981 with a minor role in “Endless Love.” However, it was his breakout performance in “Risky Business” that catapulted him to stardom.

Throughout his career, Cruise has demonstrated a remarkable ability to tackle diverse roles across different genres — from action-packed blockbusters like “Top Gun” and the “Mission: Impossible” series to dramatic performances in films like “Rain Man” and “Jerry Maguire.”

Aside from his acting skills, many fans also praise Cruise for being authentic and committed to his roles as he is a certified pilot since 1994. He also loved flying some of his personal aircraft like a WWII-era P-51, which was featured in an episode of “The Late Late Show” with host James Corden.

Some viewers would think that the actor used body doubles for his action-packed performances, but most of the time, the death-defying stunts you see on the big screen are often done by him.

Since Cruise has been in the Hollywood industry for decades, fans have noticed that the actor almost never aged as he maintained his charming appearance throughout his career.

When Tom Cruise first appeared in mainstream media, he was known for his charming looks and toned body. However, his smile wasn’t always perfect. According to The Sun, the actor’s teeth were misaligned when he starred in the movie "The Outsiders." He later underwent dental procedures including teeth whitening following his breakout role.

In 2001, the star, who just separated from his ex Nicole Kidman at the time, flaunted his new smile as he wore braces to fix his overbite.

Cruise’s teeth aren’t the only thing about his physical appearance that the public saw. People also noticed changes in his facial features which made them speculate if he had undergone plastic surgery. It all began in the 2010s when his face changed drastically. There was a rumor back then in which people claimed he had gotten a nose job. However, he debunked the allegations in a 2012 interview with Playboy Magazine, as reported by The Sun. He told the publication, “I haven’t (got a nose job) and never would.”

His good friend Cuba Gooding Jr. seemingly added fuel to the flame when he said in an interview that Cruise “absolutely” changed. He also recalled a story when he came over to his house as a surprise, and he noticed “dots all over his face.”

In 2021, the actor attended a baseball game in San Francisco, and fans pointed out that his face had become puffy all of a sudden. According to an expert named Dr. Alice Henshaw, the “swollen” look could possibly have been due to facial fillers or post-procedure swelling.

She told The Sun, as reported by News.com.au, “Often surgical procedures such as a platysmaplasty, or neck lift, combined with a mid-facelift could create this type of swelling in these areas, and scars are easily disguised.”

In July 2023, the actor debuted a new look at the Australian premiere of his movie “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One.” At the time, he also celebrated his 61st birthday. As seen in photos from the event, Cruise donned a simple all-black outfit, but his head stood out the most as his hair looked different from his previous styles. Instead of going for sleek and well-styled locks or the shorter crew-cut styles he's worn for years, the actor let down his medium-length hair. The look is a return to when he regularly wore this style back in the '90s and early '00s.

But one thing was sure, he always has a smile on his face whenever he meets with fans. It appears that interacting with his supporters also contributes to his youthful glow as he said in a previous interview, as reported by Men’s Health:

“Yes, I’ll spend two hours with fans. People are really kind to come out, so I want to say hello.”

Speaking with Interview Magazine in 1986, he shared a few secrets to maintaining his toned body. He told the publication that he works out every single day.

“I work out every day. I get up and work out for 45 to 60 minutes. And that’s how I start my day. Discipline is very important to me,” he said.

Regarding his food intake, Sportskeeda reported that Cruise doesn’t follow a customized diet as he always wants to eat healthy foods throughout the day to keep him fueled every time he works on a project. The outlet noted that his maximum calorie intake is 1200.

Some of the meals he liked to indulge in daily are fish, chicken, oatmeal, vegetables, egg whites and many more. Cruise is also strict with what he’s ingesting as he reportedly doesn’t eat any junk food.
