This Witty Crow Tries Everything Possible To Share Food With A Hungry Mouse

There have been many posts online recently discussing the amazing intelligence of crows, but it's hard to believe it until you really see it in action. Part of what's so impressive about these birds is that they are smart in many of the same ways as humans.
Don't believe me? Take a look at this super accurate (and hilarious) post written by a Tumblr user who thinks that crows are scarily smart.
Like monkeys, crows are intelligent enough to use pretty complex tools. They have been known to solve puzzles, understand physics, and even count numbers! One of the best examples of how crazy smart these birds are is that people have seen crows using traffic to crack nuts. Crows have figured out how to drop nuts on the crosswalk so that passing cars crack the shells, and then wait for the pedestrian light to safely pick up the delicious nuts without being hit by cars! Researchers who study crows claim that many crows are smarter than the average seven-year-old.

In one shocking lab experiment, a crow couldn't reach some food he wanted. He used a glass to bend a wire into the perfect shape of a hook. He then used this makeshift tool to grab a long stick that had been out of reach. Finally, he used the stick to grab his food! That is some serious problem-solving. Check out this BBC video that goes into detail about the amazing cognitive abilities of crows.
istockphotos.com/JillianSuzanneEven more impressive is how many social and emotional things crows pick up on. They know how to recognize human faces and emotions, and they have incredible memories. (Here's a tip: never be rude to a crow. They will remember and they will hold a grudge.)
istockphotos.com/sdubenCrows have a scarily accurate memory for voices and sounds. It can be startling to hear how human-like their voices are. They even seem to know how to use certain words and phrases correctly. Crows even seem to experience their own emotions. They use their voices differently to express when they are angry, sad, or happy. Knowing that crows have feelings makes the following video seem even cuter. Watch the mind-blowing way that this crow tries to feed a hungry mouse and then finally succeeds.
You can clearly see how he uses problem-solving when the mouse runs away from him at first. He thinks about it, then tears off a small piece of bread and carefully brings it over to his small friend. He is smart enough to realize that he needs to give the mouse some space as well before it will come close enough to grab the crumb.
