After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they would become financially independent from the British monarchy, the question of how royal family members earn money has arisen. Here, we take a look at a number of non-working royal family members and how they earn their living.

After stepping down as senior members of the royal family, Harry and Meghan announced their desire to be financially independent as well. Until now it hasn't been clear how they intend to earn their living, but Trish Regan of Trish Regan Primetime on Fox Business talked to People magazine about their options, saying:

"Obvious things might include a book deal if they can really provide insight into what life is like as a royal...Another obvious thing might be something like a talk show."

Princess Eugenie

Having studied art history and English literature at Newcastle University, Princess Eugenie took this interest in the arts to her first job working for an online auction firm. She later became a director at Hauser & Wirth, a London art gallery. Meanwhile, her husband Jack Brooksbank is an ambassador for Casamigos, a tequila company.

Recently married, Princess Beatrice studied history at the University of London's Goldsmiths College. She went on to work in finance and consulting, and is currently the Vice President of Partnerships & Strategy at software company Afiniti.

The oldest grandson of the Queen, Peter has worked at Jaguar as the corporate hospitality manager, for the Williams F1 racing team as the sponsorship accounts manager, and as a manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland. He is presently working for an event and sponsorship agency called Sports and Entertainment LTD., running the UK branch.

Zara (Phillips) Tindall

With a strong affinity for sport like her brother Peter, Zara is the athlete of the family—she is an Olympic equestrian who won a silver medal at the 2012 London Games. The daughter of Princess Anne is a brand ambassador to a number of companies including Land Rover, Rolex, iCandy prams, and a clothing brand called Musto. She even has a line of equestrian-inspired jewelry.

Lady Gabriella Windsor

Lady Gabriella Windsor is the daughter of Queen Elizabeth II's cousin and holds the place of 52nd in line to the throne. Gabriella studied at the renowned Brown University and works as a writer, with her work appearing in the Sunday Telegraph, the Evening Standard, and Country Life.

Lady Sarah Chatto

The daughter of Princess Margaret, Sarah is an artist who works as a professional painter and is represented by The Redfern Gallery. She is also the vice-president of the Royal Ballet, which her mother Princess Margaret was a patron of.

The artistic genes continued on to Lady Sarah Chatto's son, Samuel. After graduating with a degree in art history from the University of Edinburgh, Samuel launched his own business selling ceramics.
