‘The Waltons’ Star Richard Thomas’ Son Is His Carbon Copy & Stuns In Swimsuit And Dress Photos

Richard Thomas is an American actor best known for his leading role as John-Boy Walton in the television series “The Waltons.” The show was a historical drama series about a family in rural Virginia that took place during the time of the Great Depression and World War II. The show was a massive success with fans and critics and has since gone into syndication.

Born in Manhattan, New York, on June 13, 1951, Richard grew up with parents already in the entertainment industry. His mother, Barbara Fallis, and father, Richard Scott Thomas, were both dancers in the New York City Ballet. After he began studying at Columbia College at Columbia University, he landed the role of John-Boy in “The Waltons,” and ended up dropping out of school during his junior year to commit to the role full-time. He then moved across the country to Los Angeles, California.

Although his role in “The Waltons” has gone on to be Richard’s most noteworthy performance, he has also had some outstanding performances in the miniseries “It” and on the spy thriller series “The Americans.” While Richard has found love from fans and critics for all of his work in the entertainment industry, he has also found love in his personal life. 

He has been married twice and is the proud father of seven beautiful children, including a set of triplets. What’s so remarkable about Richard’s family is that he has the same number of children as the Waltons had on the show. 

Now, his son Montana James Thomas is all grown up and looks just like his famous father.

Richard left “The Waltons” in 1977, as he had already started growing his family. Richard married Alma Gonzales in 1975, and the two welcomed their first and only son in 1976 named Richard Francisco. The second time Gonzales became pregnant, the parents were in for a huge surprise. 

On Aug. 21, 1981, Gonzales gave birth to triplet daughters: Pilar Thomas, Barbara Thomas and Gwyneth Thomas. Richard said his home was like “living in a nursery” following the birth of the triplets. The couple later divorced in 1993. As reported by the New York Times, Richard said:

“Of course, at some point life brings you to your knees, and in my case it was a painful divorce that was not, N-O, my idea.”

During the Thanksgiving season of 1994, Richard began leading a “happier life” and found love once again. He married for a second time when he tied the knot with Georgiana Bischoff, as per Outsider. Together the couple had one son, Montana Thomas, who was born in 1996. Bischoff also had two children — daughters Brooke and Kendra Thomas — from previous marriages. 

Altogether, Richard is officially the father of seven children in a beautiful blended family. However, raising so many children didn’t always come easy. Richard told Closer Weekly:

“It wasn’t always easy, blending a family of six kids and then having our own son — that’s a big job. It causes tension and challenges, but we’ve been able to weather every storm and those complicated parts of life.”

Richard’s kids have grown up to lead lives of their own. His son Montana has lived a relatively private life but has shown a true passion for posting on social media. He has really come into his own and appears to know a thing or two about fashion.

Back in 2016, Montana posted a photo on Instagram of himself wearing a zebra-striped cowboy hat while showing off his nails. Another photo showed Montana looking wonderfully tall in a crop top and bell-bottom pants. He held a trash bag and signified in the caption that he had just moved into his “new crib.”

Photos from June 2018 showed Montana looking even more confident in himself. He posted one where he nearly bared it all as he showed off his aesthetically cut bathing suit. Another photo revealed Montana’s muscles peeking through a shirt with a bow.

Montana talked about finding a “deeper purpose” while wearing a dress in a post from March 2020. He shared:

“Now more than ever it is so important to connect with nature. I love my girls because they keep me in check and I know that my deeper purpose in life is to inspire not just anyone, but everyone and also those closest to me. As the world spins round and round and round I’ve been really thinking, how do I effect the world and how does the world make me more me me me me me me me me.”

While Montana has certainly found an innovative way to express himself, we can’t help but notice how much he looks like his famous father! A photo from February 2023 showed a close-up of his face, and the resemblance to Richard is truly uncanny. Their facial features are very similar, and both Richard and Montana have proven to be creative individuals.

On top of that, Montana has shared his love for his mother. He posted a throwback photo of himself alongside Bischoff in 2017 and wrote, “Love you” in the caption.
