Can you imagine that Prince William and Kate Middleton have been married for almost a decade now? It’s been eight years since their beautiful wedding and Kate’s life has definitely been turned upside down since then. Apart from becoming the Duchess of Cambridge and having three children, Kate also took on a lot of charitable and diplomatic duties.
The royal highness, Queen Elizabeth surely appreciates all the work Kate has invested, as she has been happy to gift and loan jewelry to Kate over the past years. It was the Queen herself who gave Kate the gorgeous tiara that she wore on her wedding day. The tiara had once belonged to Queen Elizabeth’s father, King George VI, who had bought the accessory as a gift for his wife. The Queen inherited her mother’s tiara when she turned 18.

Furthermore, Kate Middleton has been seen wearing a maple-leaf-shaped brooch that also once belonged to the Queen’s mother as well as the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II, an item that the Queen only dispenses to family members who provided exemplary service.
But for the dutchess’ eighth wedding anniversary the Queen came up with a very special gift. A gift that was an even greater honor than the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen gave her the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order which as its name indicates had originally been owned by Queen Victoria.
The official website of the royal family states, “awards in the Royal Victorian Order are made personally by The Queen, for services to the Sovereign,” which shows just how much the Queen holds Kate in high esteem.
