The National Zoo's 8-Week-Old Panda Cub Is Getting More Feisty By The Day

With famous siblings like Bao Bao, age 7, Tai Shan, age 15 and Bei Bei, age 5, mama Mei Xian's new cub was bound to be born with his own star power!
Born at the Smithsonian's National Zoo, the 8-week-old baby panda has an attitude and personality that is nearly bigger than him!

According to ABC7, in the short time that the chubby little fur ball has been on this earth, he has been getting more feisty with every growing inch. As his personality begins to flourish more and more, his size doesn't lag too far behind it. Measuring 16.5 inches in length and 13.7 inches in girth, this plump little cutie is loving his progress, and it shows.

With a Mother's Love
While the chubby little cub has yet to be named, he makes his presence well-known at each check-up with his barking and fiery spirit. Much of the cub's confidence and personality are more than likely a testament to the raring that mom Mei Xiang provides. With all of her cubs, Mei Xiang is very active and doesn't shy away from her role as a mom one bit.
As with all new mothers, Mei Xiang was very protective of her newest addition as is to be expected. Now, she has begun to allow her plump baby to explore the den a little more by crawling around, and sometimes she even allows him to follow her on short trips around their compound.
Young and in Charge
Like most new babies, this cutie pie is very inquisitive and curious about his new surroundings and wants to explore every inch. With a loving mom by his side and help from zoo staff, he is able to satisfy his needs in a safe and caring environment.
With added dietary treats like popsicles made with apple juice, a caring mom to nurture and protect him, and a safe environment like the National Smithsonian Zoo, this little cub has got it made! And with such a huge personality packed inside of a cute and plump little body, it is only a matter of time before this little, nameless cub becomes a household name to people all around the world!
