The Latest Exciting New Invention - A Foldable Shuttle Bike Kit
Sep 21, 2018 by apost team
You love bicycling on land, but what if you could ride on the open water? It turns out that this idea is not so crazy after all. The hydro-cycle was invented in the late 1800s. It was designed to allow people to bicycle on the water like they could on land.
How the Hydro-Cycle Works
The basic idea looks like a couple of surfboards bound together with a bicycle in between. The surfboards create buoyancy on the water so that the bike floats. Meanwhile, the hydro-cycle is designed with paddles instead of wheels. This helps cyclists move along on the water.

Unlike the hydro-cycle design of the past, the new design comes as a kit. You can use this shuttle kit as a portable, easy way to transform your bicycle into a seafaring device.
The kit comes with special pontoons that you can inflate when you reach the water. A special bicycle pedal helps you pump air into the pontoons.
After inflating the pontoons, you just have to attach a rudder to the front wheel of your bike, This allows you to direct where you go in the water.
Meanwhile, circular gears help you to propel your bicycle along the water. The roller attaches to your wheels so that your propulsion power changes as you pedal.
An Italian Design for Waterways
Venice's canals are legendary, so it is not surprising that this kit was designed in Venice. Roberto Siviero designed the shuttle bike with an engineering firm called SBK.
At the moment, the kit costs about $1,300. Compared to other aquatic vehicles, this is a surprisingly affordable price. As long as you already have a bicycle, you can use the kit to make a hydro-cycle.
Best of all, the entire kit fits easily into a bag!
You can take the portable kit with you on your next ride to cross rivers, lakes and other waterways.
