In 1990, Queen's frontman, Freddie Mercury, made his last appearance to accept the BRIT Award for The Outstanding Contribution to British Music. Though Mercury was dying of AIDS, he still showed up at the award ceremony and the after-party. Queen's guitarist, Brian May, helped Mercury speak through the award ceremony.

Due to his illness, it was visible Mercury was having a difficult time. He appeared pale but in good enough spirits to take pictures and stand on the stage to receive the award with his band. To this day, Freddie Mercury and Queen have been an influence on many artists we hear today.

Timeless classic hit songs teenagers of today are familiar with are still from the band Queen. The music never faded or died when it came to hits like "Bohemian Rhapsody." It is a song used in movies and has almost all the music genres put into one song. It is a song for everyone. The song covers a slow melody, opera, classic rock, and ends with the slow chant that everyone appreciates.

Other songs like "We Are the Champions" and "We Will Rock You" are anthems played at sports arenas worldwide. "Another One Bites the Dust" is another hit song that can blow the speakers on a vehicle, which all generations still love to hear.

Today's younger generation can amazingly sing most of Queen's most popular hits word for word. When it came to the lyrics and the composure of the music, Freddie Mercury knew how to sing from the heart and capture the listener's attention. The live performances were phenomenal when it came to the outfits and bizarre behavior on stage.

When Mercury's eyes met the crowd's, he knew he had them in the palm of his hand and could do whatever he desired. All of the talent put into one band, made Queen an icon of music.

It is not easy to picture Rock music without Freddie Mercury and Queen. In reality, it is impossible. The band formed in 1970, and in 1986, Freddie Mercury took the stage for the last time to perform before his diagnosis with AIDS in 1987. Every so often, Mercury would make live appearances to remain in the public eye.

It was at the 1990 BRIT Awards where it became clear how unwell Mercury was, reports Express. Sadly, after this, the public eye would not see Freddie Mercury alive again. The BRIT Award Queen won was well-deserved, and it was good that Mercury was around to receive an award for his accomplishments with the band.

According to Express, Mercury passed away a year later in 1991 due to complications with pneumonia. He left behind a legacy that would go untouched in rock music and is still going strong today. It is when younger generations recognize Queen's music that Freddie Mercury lives on and is still rocking!

Mercury also raised awareness of AIDS since he was in the public eye and could have his voice heard. AIDS was something feared during the '80s and early '90s, but due to his voice, he spoke out, giving those with the deadly disease a chance to live the best life possible until they succumbed to the illness.

The video shows the struggle of Mercury in the final year of his life. It also showed how he never gave up right until the end. If you enjoyed this story and video, keep it moving and let us know your thoughts.
