The Kindness Of Keanu Reeves: ‘Matrix’ Star Crashes Wedding And Levels Up His Friendliness Ranking

Actor Keanu Reeves is one of Hollywood’s finest men – and he’s also one of Hollywood’s nicest. On top of having a reputation for being so kind, Reeves is also a bonafide action star whose filmography speaks for itself. Some of his most well-known works include the “John Wick” and “The Matrix” franchises, as well as plenty of films in various genres, such as romantic comedies, dramas and thrillers.

There are plenty of examples out there that show just why Reeves is considered such a nice guy. From the time that he gave up his seat on the subway for a stranger and the various moments he’s shared with homeless people on the streets, listening to their stories, to the many donations he’s given to charities, Reeves is the epitome of a stand-up citizen. Reeves has also taken the time to show his cast and crew members on the films he’s been a part of just how much they mean to him and how much he respects them and their time.

Reeves has been through plenty of hardships in his life but has continuously bounced back and come back stronger than ever. He also has always left a great impression on those he interacts with, whether it be his longtime friendships with Sandra Bullock and Drew Barrymore or his beautiful romantic relationship with his current partner Alexandra Grant.

Reeves has continued to have a great reputation in Hollywood and is still going out of his way to make the day of any fan, friend or stranger that comes his way. This was made abundantly evident after the actor took a trip to England in August 2022. Read on to find out how the “Bill & Ted” star made the day for a pair of newlyweds in true humble Reeves fashion.

On Aug. 22, 2022, James Roadnight was on a high after just having exchanged vows with bride Nikki at the idyllic Fawsley Hall in Northamptonshire when he spotted none other than Hollywood legend Reeves at the venue’s bar. In his exhilaration, James approached Reeves and invited him to have a drink and join in the celebrations. Reeves responded by saying he would drop by later but, coming from a movie star, that was certainly no guarantee.

“My husband saw him in the bar area and told him he’d just got married and invited Keanu to come over to say hello and have a drink with us if he wanted to,” Nikki told Newsweek of the happy coincidence. “He was very friendly and said he would later on. We didn’t know if he would or not but it was cool that my husband had spoken to him!”

Later on, a staff member at the 4-star hotel pulled Nikki aside and told her a “very special guest” outside wanted to speak to her, and when she stepped out, Reeves was waiting.

“It was all very exciting and I went to say hi and introduce myself, and I offered him a drink but he declined that and said he’d just had a long flight so wouldn’t stay long but he was so kind and friendly and congratulated us on our wedding,” she told the outlet.

“He was kind enough to do some pictures … Then he took the time to speak to some of our guests and have more photos done!” Nikki added.

“My mum, Jo, took photos and shouted for everyone to yell ‘Speed’ as she took the photo. We laughed about that as it's one of his older films! We are big fans. … It was so cool!”

It turned out that James and Nikki’s nuptials were not even the first wedding Reeves had made a cameo in. In 2018, he stumbled on newlyweds Moray and Maura on the streets of New York and was happy to pose with them for pictures.

Meanwhile, Reeves’ unofficial tour of spreading joy in the United Kingdom didn’t end there. On Aug. 24, 2022, the manager of a quaint village pub in Charwelton, Northamptonshire, got the shock of his life when he saw the “Point Break” actor walk through his establishment’s doors.

Fox and Hounds manager Danny Ricks said that he initially couldn’t quite believe his eyes.“I had to a double-take when he first walked through the door,” Ricks told BBC. “I thought ‘that looks a lot like Keanu Reeves.’”

He told the outlet while he and his colleague, Laura James, were starstruck, they managed to “stay professional” while Reeves ordered a Caesar salad and a falafel dish.

“We did manage to get a picture with him at the end,” he added. “He was absolutely lovely. It made everyone’s evening.”

That everyone also included local patron Dianne King, who was there that night in the pub with her husband, Jason. She said she, too, couldn’t believe it was the film star. “So obviously I had to go and ask him 10 times ‘is it really you?’” she told BBC. “Myself and my husband are still on a high from it – what an honor and what a lovely man,” she added. 

We hope Reeves never changes the way he interacts with his fans, whether it’s answering their rapid-fire questions at an airport, entertaining frustrated travelers or calling someone’s grandmother. And who knows, maybe your path will cross with his one day too!
