4th In Line To The Throne
Princess Charlotte made history as the first girl to not be moved down the line of succession after the birth of her younger brother, Prince Louis. In 2013, the Succession to the Crown Act was passed, and it states that women are no longer allowed to be moved down the line of succession to the crown after the birth of a male. This means Charlotte remains 4th in line to the crown, after her grandfather Prince Charles, father Prince William, and her older brother, Prince George.
Her Sweet Nickname
While the public knows her formally as Princess Charlotte, her family lovingly refers to her as "Lottie," a shortened version of her first name. She was also referred to as a "Warrior Princess" by her teachers while attending Wilcocks Nursery school. Katie Nicholl, royal expert and author, told Entertainment Tonight, "I'm wondering if that might be a nickname that will stick with her. Apparently she earned that nickname because obviously she is a princess, but she's quite a tomboy."
When the family visited Kate's Back to Nature garden at Chelsea Flower Show, the Duke of Cambridge was overheard calling Charlotte another nickname, "Mignonette," which means 'cute' in the French language. The nickname absolutely fits the princess perfectly.
Gymnastics Lover
One of the many sports Princess Charlotte enjoys is gymnastics. She is a very active child, and gymnastics suit her well. According to Hello Magazine, while on a tour of Ireland, Kate said, "Charlotte is really into gymnastics, she's doing cartwheels, handstands, everything. It's so good for their basic skills of balance and coordination."
Friend To All Animals
Charlotte shares a love of horses with the Queen and has been riding since she was 17 months old. Kate had the chance to meet the Paralympic gold-medalist in dressage, Natasha Baker, in 2016. Baker said after the meeting, "She emphasised that Charlotte has this passion for horses and although she doesn't echo it, she'll do her best to champion and encourage it."
Bilingual
A source told People that Princess Charlotte can speak a bit of Spanish and is "very sweet and very confident – she's always chatting away." She also added that Charlotte is "so polite, but also fun and energetic with beautiful manners." The children have been learning Spanish from their nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.

Dancer Like Her Grandmother
At a BBC Radio event in 2018, Prince Willliam shared that both Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis love to dance and are taking lessons. He mentioned at the same event that it was also a favorite hobby of his mother, Princess Diana. It is wonderful that the children are following in their grandmother's graceful footsteps.
Enjoys Gardening
Princess Charlotte also shares interests with her other grandmother, Carol Middleton. Carol told Saga Magazine, "If I'm planting with my grandchildren, I like to have it all laid out at 'activity stations' with their own little trowel and pot so they can get started immediately. It's important for children to grow up appreciating nature and part of that is allowing them to get a bit muddy."
Her Favorite Show
According to You Magazine, Charlotte loves the television series "Peppa Pig." Charlotte's teacher, Natalie Graham, shared after Charlotte's birthday, "(Kate) said that they had a little party for Charlotte yesterday and she sang Happy Birthday to herself! It was so sweet. She loved the card and present and said Charlotte would love it too as the card had 'Peppa Pig' on, which she loves."
Cooking For Her Mother
People reported that Kate spoke with Matthew Kleiner-Mann at her children's primary school. Mann said after the meeting, "She was telling us how much her children love cooking and how they cook for her. They made cheesy pasta the other day. One stirs the flour, one puts the milk and butter in. And they make salads and stuff."
First Word
Charlotte's first public word came in 2016, while she was only 16-months-old. At a children's party, Charlotte saw some balloons and loudly exclaimed, "Pop!" She was also heard referring to her father as "dada" on the same day.
