We've all heard the stories about high school sweethearts falling in love and marrying after college. It's something straight out of a romantic movie. While it was a common occurrence for our grandparents and even parents to get married young, it's not so common nowadays.
High school seniors Chase Smith and Sadie Mills from Indiana had been dating for six months, but they already seem to know their love is the real deal. They had plans to go to college and then get married, but then Chase received some devastating news: he had terminal cancer and was told he only had 3-6 months left to live. This didn't mean the wedding was off though, it just meant it had to be planned quickly, and they got married on Sadie's driveway earlier this year.

Chase had been battling cancer since 2014 when he was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma at just 12-years-old, reports Fox News. He fought cancer three times, first in 2014, then again in 2016, and in 2019.
Just when he thought he had the cancer beat, it came back to rear its ugly head in March of this year. Doctor's found that the cancer had spread to his lung, back, hip, and the lining of his brain. Unfortunately, they gave Chase only months to live.

The once-vibrant 18-year-old who enjoyed competitive swimming was now facing the biggest fight of his life. While a GoFundMe account was set up to help raise funds for Chase's cancer treatment, Chase's own father came up with the most helpful idea of all.
He and Chase's mom, Kelli Smith, could see the love that their son had for Sadie and wanted him to know that they fully supported the young couple moving forward with their relationship.
As reported in the Indy Star, Chase described a conversation he had with his father about the possibility of marrying Sadie, saying his dad told him:
"I can tell in your demeanor that you're going to marry Sadie one day. I want you to know if that's going through your mind right now, your mom and I support you 110 percent."
With his parent's blessing, Chase set out to do the one thing he had dreamed about since first meeting Sadie. Surrounded by Sadie and both sets of parents, Chase explained to them why he wanted to move forward with getting married.
"I told them how much Sadie had changed my life and how much I loved her, how special she had been to me, the simple fact that there is nobody I've been able to open up about my personal life and cancer journey like I'm able to with her," Chase recounted to Indy Star of the moment he asked Sadie to marry him.
With a blessing from both sets of parents, Chase and Sadie set out to plan their simple wedding. Given the current global situation, they knew other family members and friends wouldn't be able to attend, but they wanted to share their special day with them.
That's why Sadie's father, Jeff Mills, shared a 15-minute long video on his YouTube page which highlighted moments from the beautiful ceremony, which was held at Sadie's home in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The entire wedding was planned in just four days and turned out exactly how the young couple had imagined. Chase's mom described their love story as something out of a Hallmark movie or Nicholas Sparks novel. The newlyweds are now enjoying married life and praying for a miracle that Chase gets to live long enough to share his story. In an update on Chase's GoFundMe page from September of this year, it was revealed that he had recent scans, but the news wasn't good, with some of the tumors growing larger. He still has some good days though and is surrounded by love from Sadie, his family, and friends as he continues to receive treatment.
