Talking Parrot Gives A 'Meaningful Pep Talk' To Itself In The Mirror
Dec 05, 2018 by apost team
Parrots have long been known as some of the funniest animals on the planet. They try to talk to humans, repeating hilarious phrases that they’ve picked up during their time with their owners. While most parrots focus on talking to humans, it seems that Marnie the parrot isn’t at all interested at the people around him – instead, he’s completely smitten by that handsome parrot he sees staring back at him in the mirror!
Marnie’s owner took a video of her beloved parrot talking to himself in the mirror. Sitting on his owner’s finger, this Ringneck parrot stares into the mirror as if he’s in awe of his appearance. But, rather than just admire himself, Marnie decides to take things a step farther and starts to actually talk to himself!
The beautiful light blue parrot seems to be trying his best to out-talk his reflection. At times, he stands up a little taller on his owner’s finger, and yet his gaze never leaves his own image. Staring intently into the mirror, his beak flaps non-stop.
Marnie certainly isn’t shy and he doesn’t try to appear so as he carries on a lively conversation with the mirror. His enthusiastic, outgoing personality makes us think that he truly considers himself the life of the party! With a high-pitched voice, Marnie makes noises that humans can’t understand but must certainly mean something to him

As humans, it’s impossible for us to watch Marnie without asking ourselves what he might be saying. There is a possibility that Marnie truly thinks that his reflection is another parrot. He seems very enchanted by the appearance, so perhaps he is trying his best to make friends with what he considers to be a good-looking bird. For all we know, Marnie might be the only feathered friend in his human family’s home, making him lonely for the companionship of other birds. If this is the case, Marnie might truly be trying to make friends.
On the other hand, some people think that Marnie knows that he is looking at his own reflection and is trying to give himself a pep-talk. Surely we’ve all had days when we’ve stared at ourselves in the mirror, trying to assure ourselves that we have what it takes to get through a challenging situation ahead. Perhaps Marnie is just trying to be his own cheerleader.
A different idea is that Marnie is admiring his own reflection. He knows that it’s him, and yet he’s so enamored by his looks that he can’t stop himself from trying to carry on a conversation. Maybe Marnie thinks that his reflection is the only thing worthy of his time and conversation!
