Supervisor Defends Offended Cashier After Rich Customer Calls Her Dumb

The customer isn't always right. Some customers have a sense of entitlement that reeks. This supervisor stood up for a cashier against a rich woman's tirade.

It's every cashier's story: She was just doing her job.

This girl had afternoon work as a checkout cashier in order to pay for her college studies. She'd also dropped her ill son off with her parents so that she wouldn't miss work. That was when the unpleasant customer walked in. The girl's shift seemed to be normal, until the wealthy woman appeared. This customer had brought her small daughter with her. From the start of the interaction, she threw her items on the counter and refused to respond to the cashier's greeting.

Expired coupons: the bane of a cashier's existence.

Rude customers are no surprise to retail workers. The cashier was happy to scan the items and coupons. But one of the coupons had expired. She politely informed the customer about the expiration date, but the customer exhibited some signs of stress. "Signs of stress" meaning that she shouted at the poor girl.

The cashier couldn't reach a solution, so the woman asked to talk to her supervisor.

The supervisor heard the conversation so he came to check the coupons after he heard the woman tell her daughter that it was important to study so she wouldn't become a "failure" like "this woman." The supervisor informed the woman that her coupon was expired. After that, he removed her items from her bags.

Politely, he told her to leave and said she was banned from the store.

If only all bosses had that attitude! This is a good manager. Sometimes, retail managers are so desperate to keep customers that they sacrifice the well-being of their employees.

This manager wasn't putting up with any of that nonsense.

Anyone who's worked retail knows this struggle. What are some of your stories? Be sure to let us know and show this story to your friends and family!
