Sunlight Refracted Through Hummingbird’s Wings Is Stunning Sight

Nature has a beauty that brings wonder to us all, with her smells and sights and sounds. We cannot hope to copy her. No drawing lessons or special effects can recreate the masterpieces we walk into when we exit the house. Sadly, not enough people take the time to see.

One photographer from Brazil, Christian Spencer, sees the beauty in nature, and thanks to his beautifully shot film The Dance of Time, he has allowed us to do the same. In particular, through one scene which displays the beauty of a hummingbird's wings when positioned in front of the sun.

Nature is real, though; all of the wonders she gifts us with exist without a filter. Christian Spencer knows this well. He is an artist and photographer who lives in Rio de Janeiro. Brazil is rich with natural wonder, and he is able to carry out his passion of photography in a land where there is always something magical.

One day, Spencer was sitting on his veranda when he saw a Black Jacobin Hummingbird. We have all seen hummingbirds; however, what he saw that day was different. He was witness to the magic that happens when the hummingbird's iridescent feathers break light into colors, creating a rainbow that is very alive.

He filmed the bird, capturing the magic into a video. Later he added the footage to a film titled The Dance of Time; it is focused on the beauty of creation. The trailer for this spectacular piece can be found below.

Captioning the video, Spencer wrote about the film: "It expresses the perfect proportions and patterns of natural phenomena and the evidence of a interrelationship [sic] of all things. A film of contrasts and opposites that complete each other in harmonious [sic] Dance of Time."

We would all notice more magic in nature, if we learned to really see what was around us. In a world where everyone is in a hurry, it's no wonder that people struggle to believe the beauty in the video is real; they might have passed something similar, but never stopped to take it in!

These things do still exist, and we are grateful for films like The Dance of Time to capture it for others. Do you know someone who could use a bit of magic in their life? Show them the trailer, and remind them that they can see beautiful things, too, if they would only open their eyes.
