Aerosmith's Steven Tyler achieved an incredible amount of fame thanks to his singing talents. His vocal skills helped the super-band sell millions of albums and draw millions of fans to arenas. Tyler isn't someone who selfishly enjoys the fruits of his mega-success. Recently, the rock-and-roll icon opened a second care home for abused girls.
"Janie’s House" is the name of the facility opened in Memphis, TN. Long-time Aerosmith fans know where the name "Janie" comes from. In the 1980s, Aerosmith scored a huge hit with the song "Janie's Got a Gun." The controversial song dealt with an abused girl who confronts her father. The powerful music video for the song played in heavy rotation on MTV back during the channel's glory days.

The cynical may say a songwriter can't create a real-life way for young women to escape an abusive situation. Steven Tyler proved those cynics wrong. Through the kindness of his heart, Tyler created a safe place for young women with nowhere to go to seek refuge.
The Memphis, TN location follows the establishment of one in Atlanta, Georgia. The Atlanta facility opened roughly two years ago.
'>Steven Tyler's personal history reveals someone who struggled massively with the pain of addiction. Tyler went in and out of drug treatment facilities for years. During an interview segment in the documentary "The Rise and Fall of Western Civilization," Tyler noted his cocaine abuse took much of his fortune from the 1970s and 1980s. In time, Tyler and Aerosmith made a comeback and the frontman amassed great wealth once again. Today, he is putting that wealth to positive use. He also makes something positive out of his rehab stints.
'>Spending time in treatment facilities and interacting with the people inside them planted seeds in Tyler's mind about opening a care home for people in need. Eventually, the idea grew into the establishment of "Janie's House." Tyler continues to raise money for the cause. So far, $4 million in donations rolled in to help run the project.
