Tuesday, Aug 11, 2020, Bindi Irwin and husband Chandler Powell announced on Instagram that they are expecting their first child, their “Baby Wildlife Warrior,” next year in 2021.
In a surprise announcement made on her Instagram account, the Australian television personality and conservationist Bindi Irwin announced on Tuesday that she and her husband are expecting a child, which she described as a “Baby Wildlife Warrior.”
“Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting! It’s an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you,” Irwin wrote to her more than 3.6 million followers alongside a photo of her and her husband holding a baby-sized Australia Zoo shirt.

The 22-year-old continued that although she is still in her first trimester, she wanted fans “to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter.” She added: “We couldn’t wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives. Your support means the world to us.”
Fans, celebrities, and friends from all over the world congratulate Irwin on the exciting news in the comments, including a message from her very own husband who wrote that Irwin is “going to be the best mother.”
Irwin, who has become a conservationist in the spirit of her late father Steve Irwin, married 23-year-old Chandler Powell on March 25, according to CNN. In keeping with the family’s love for animals, Bindi and Chandler held the secret wedding in the gardens of Australia Zoo in Queensland. As cool and unusual as that may seem, the zoo still belongs to the Irwin family — in fact, the family lives there together — as it’s the same facility that Bindi’s grandparents opened in the 1970s.
The two animal lovers met back in 2013 while Powell was visiting Australia for a wakeboarding competition. Shortly thereafter, Irwin gave the then 16-year-old a tour of the zoo, according to USA Today.

On Tuesday, Powell shared the same photo alongside his own enthusiastic announcement on his Instagram profile, where he also updates fans on his life and his relationship with Irwin.
"We’re going to be parents!! We have a baby Wildlife Warrior on the way coming in 2021. Becoming a dad is the highlight of my life," he captioned the image. "I cannot wait to embark on this new adventure and life chapter with my gorgeous wife, @bindisueirwin. Bee, you’re going to be the most amazing mother."
Of course, Bindi’s mother Terri also chimed in on social media, expressing her love for the pair while also admitting that she wished her late husband, Steve, were there to celebrate alongside the family.
“Words cannot express the love that is filling my heart. While I wish that Steve was here to share this beautiful moment, I know that he would be so proud,” Terri Irwin wrote on Twitter.
Congratulations, Bindi and Chandler! Let us know what you think about this exciting news, and make sure to pass this information on to friends, family members, and fellow Irwin-family enthusiasts.
