Most people know Steve Carell from one of the greatest tv sitcoms of all time, "The Office." Born in August of 1962 and was raised in Massachusetts. Coming from humble beginnings, his parents were an engineer and a nurse. Carell had a normal childhood. He grew up playing sports like ice hockey and lacrosse. After graduating high school, he attended Denison University in Ohio. During college, Carell started to dip his foot into the acting pool and quickly caught the acting bug. Carell joined Burpee's Seedy Theatrical Company, an improv comedy group.
Following college, Carell attempted to be a UPS delivery man before betting on himself and pursuing an acting career. He started by joining a children's theatre company. He starred in Knatt Scatt Private Eye for the company and also landed a commercial for a restaurant chain called Brown's Chicken. In 1996 Carell had landed his first big part to date on "The Dana Carvey Show." After starring in minor roles, Carell became a correspondent for "The Daily Show" from 1999-2005.
In 2005 Carell landed the role that the world still knows and loves today. Acting as "Michael Scott" in "The Office," Carell starred in the show until 2011. Aside from acting on television, Carell landed prominent film roles as well. He starred in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy," "Bruce Almighty," "Evan Almighty," and three "Despicable Me" movies. In addition, the star has quite a collection of awards, such as a Golden Globe and a Television Critics Association Award.
Aside from his successful career in television and film, Carell plays an even more critical role in real life. He is a husband and father to wife Nancy Carell and has two children.
Carell and his wife Nancy met back in the 1990s. Nancy had taken an acting class from Carell in Chicago. While on "The Ellen Degeneres Show" in 2015, Carell said their relationship started very slowly.
"The conversation would go something like, 'Hey, you know, if I were ever to ask a woman out, it would be someone like you. Exactly like you,'" he said. "And she'd say, 'If a guy like you were ever to ask a woman like me out, I would definitely do that.'"
"This went on for weeks," he continued. "Other people at the bar at the bar must have been like, 'Just do it! Put us all out of our misery.' And finally, we did. It was great." The couple married in 1995 and have been together for over 25 years.
The couple has two children, Elisabeth Anne, born in May 2001, and their son John, born in June 2004. The famous actor said that his whole life changed when he became a dad.
He told The Guardian," All I wanted to do was get home to my baby and it changed my perspective on my career and on the world, on who I was," he said. "The world was so much bigger than me, or any of my concerns and so much richer too. Having children is by far the most important and best thing that we ever did," he added.
Now that his children are older, the star admitted that his kids are actually quite funny too.

The star told People in 2010, "My kids doing something funny? Oh boy, they do something funny every day," he said.
Carell's son John takes much after his father in many ways. Besides his looks, he is also very interested in the entertainment industry. Studying at a private college in California, the star's son has dreams of stepping out into directing and producing. Following in his father's big footsteps, his dad said he's funny, just like him.
"Their sense of humor is very pure, and they don't even a lot of times know when they're being funny, because it's just so honest," he said. "And I think that's what makes them so funny," Carell added.
John Carell pays close attention to his dad's roles. Starring in "Minions: The Rise of the Gru," Carell said that his kids jumped at the opportunity to see the feature film.
"I put it out to them like, 'Well, the premiere is this week, do you want to go?' And they were all over it, like not even a hesitation," the award-winning actor said. "I think it's nostalgic at this point. They love the characters and they love the franchise. It's been a big part of our family," Carell added.
Seeing his kids grow older, the star has said that when everyone isn't working, it's all about family time.
"When we go to places, it's about them and it's about us as a family," he shared. He also said that he believes his family is proud of him and his accomplishments. "I think they're proud of me, but I'm just Dad," the humble actor said.
