Gruffydd Wyn Robertson audition on Britain’s Got Talent in 2018 was a nerve recking one, to say the least. When the 22-year-old performed on the show for the very first time, Simon Cowell halted his performance just moments after he began singing.
Thankfully, Robertson’s audition ended on a high note – with the young prodigy getting a second chance to prove himself, that even earned him the Golden Buzzer.

Like most contestants on the show, Robertson introduced himself and told the judges a little bit about his background before he began his performance. He explained that he lived with his grandmother, and hadn’t met his father until he was 16 years old. He is also a rugby player.
Despite his difficult past, its obvious Robertson has a great support system as he had two friends in the crowd cheering him on the whole time.

He then went on to begin his performance, showing that although he seemed like your average Joe, he actually had a golden voice and was an immense talent in opera.
What happened next, however, was truly nerve breaking, as Simon Cowell got up just a few lined into his performance and signaled Robertson to stop. Cowell then explained that he felt Robertson’s performance was “cold” and “mechanical.”
“I want to hear that warmth, that richness,” Cowell told the singer. “I want you to just let go for a second.”

For his second attempt, Robertson sang Giacomo Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma,” with far more fire and confidence this time around. The audience could tell this too, with the whole room erupting into cheers and applause. His friends were visibly touched by the performance, unable to keep back their tears as they watched Robertson sing.
When his song was over, Robertson was shaken to see the audience’s reaction.

The best was yet to come, however, as judge Amanda Holden was so touched by the performance, she couldn’t resist the Golden Buzzer. And just like that, Robertson got to go straight to the final rounds.
His reaction was priceless as he starts to spring up and down like a happy child on the stage when he hears the news.
