Simon Cowell Proposed To Lauren Silverman With Engagement Ring Valued At $3.4 Million

Simon Cowell is known for being one of the harshest and most critical judges on talent competition shows. He’s a record executive, television personality and entrepreneur, and he has also used his platform for the betterment of others, engaging in philanthropic activities over the years. “The X Factor,” “Britain’s Got Talent,” “America's Got Talent” and “American Idol” are some of the most popular shows on Cowell’s resume.

Cowell has always been surrounded by musical influences growing up, so it was no surprise when he entered the entertainment industry with a strong focus on the music business. He helped launch the careers of many musical artists and bands, such as Leona Lewis, One Direction and Little Mix, who all got their big break on his competition shows. The music mogul has played a hand in the business side of his own entertainment company, Syco Entertainment, and has also worked on the production side of many musical releases.

When he is not busy judging others on television or working with various musical artists, Cowell spends time with his family, which is made up of his son, Eric, and his longtime partner, Lauren Silverman. The couple have been together for close to a decade and recently got engaged on Christmas Eve in 2021 while vacationing in Barbados with Eric and Silverman’s eldest son, Adam.

Silverman’s ring is absolutely stunning and worth quite a bit of money. In fact, her diamond ring is estimated to cost up to $3.4 million. Silverman flashed her gorgeous new piece of jewelry while out and about with her current fiancé in late January 2022.

Although Cowell and Silverman are seen in a bright light now, the relationship started off with some controversy, resulting in widespread media attention and bad press. However, the pair persevered and are still together happier than ever, as PEOPLE confirmed they were engaged on Dec. 24, 2021.

According to the Daily Mail, Silverman was “absolutely stunned” by the proposal, as she never expected Cowell to ask her to marry him. “Lauren has been Simon’s rock over these past few years – supporting him when he broke his back, and through thick and thin generally,” a source told the Daily Mail. “They make a wonderful couple.” 

Silverman and Cowell have been together for close to a decade, having first met when Silverman was still married to millionaire property developer Andrew Silverman. The affair and the news that Silverman was pregnant with Cowell’s child became public knowledge in July 2013.

While the beginning of their relationship may not have been seen in the best light, it is clear that the couple truly love each other and are happy about taking the next step in their relationship. According to the Daily Mail, Cowell once found marriage “boring” but changed his mind during the lockdown period as Silverman urged him to fully commit to her and their family, making sure to “prioritize the present.”

A source told the publication, “Whilst Simon never thought he was the marrying type, he’s realized he’s met the woman of his dreams — and couldn’t be happier. In the words of Beyoncé, it was time to put a ring on it.”

Cowell did just that and bought Silverman an absolutely mesmerizing ring worth millions of dollars. In January 2022, Silverman was spotted leaving “Britain’s Got Talent” auditions alongside Cowell, flashing her stunning new engagement ring in the process, according to the Daily Mail. As the couple left The London Palladium, Silverman wore a white crop top paired with khakis. She accessorized the look with a peach wool coat, nude heels, a snakeskin handbag and of course her new diamond ring. 

According to the Daily Mail, Simon has an estimated net worth of $600 million, and it seems like he put it to good use when he picked out his fiancée’s engagement ring. Silverman’s ring is worth a whopping $3.4 million! 

Gemologist Alexandra Michell told the Daily Mail:

“I would estimate this ring is a 15ct oval cut diamond, the stone is a color D and internally flawless … the best grade on the market. I’d estimate the retail value at $3.4 million or £2.5 million. This is very classic in style; a single stone on a white gold or platinum band, to really show off the star of the show – the diamond.”

Some other jewelry experts said that they believe the diamond is worth less than Michelle’s estimate, claiming it’s most likely worth about $2.5 million. Zack Stone, managing director at Steven Stone, said:

“Lauren’s ring looks to be oval shaped, which was the most popular shape of 2021 for celebrities. The center diamond is huge, approximately 20ct. It looks like it’s D color, which makes it an incredibly high value stone.”
