Sharon Osbourne, 71, is a fan of keeping classics the way they always were.

The outspoken talk show co-host slammed John Legend and Kelly Clarkson’s new version of the controversial song “Baby it’s Cold Outside.”

John Legend and fellow The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson joined forces this year to record an updated version of the Christmas classic. Although the song has not officially been released just yet, a small teaser of the new lyrics, which were written by Legen and Natasha Rothwell, was released by Vanity Fair in their September 2019 issue.

“I really can’t stay (Baby it’s cold outside)/ I’ve gotta go away (I can call you a ride)/ This evening has been (so glad that you dropped in)/ So very nice (time spent with you is paradise)/ My mother will start to worry (I’ll call a car and tell ’em to hurry).”

Although many millennials find the updated lyrics more appropriate, others have come forward to voice their distaste of the new version - including Sharon Osbourne.

“What would John Legend do, if in 40 years, if somebody wanted to — you know, times change — re-record one of his songs, and there was some group that found it offensive, and somebody just went, ‘Oh, I can change the lyrics on that,'” she said on The Talk on Monday.

The 71-year-old also likened changing the lyrics to tampering with a “master painting.”

“You go and see these beautiful nudes in museums all over the world, they’re spectacular,” she explained. “Would it be right for me to go and draw a bikini top on one of those nudes? It’s still an art form, it’s a piece of art.”

“To change an innocent lyric, to what is it, ‘Your mind and your body?’ What the hell are you on? That’s ridiculous,” she added.

To end her rant, Osbourne made clear that although she “loves” John legend and his family, but thinks tampering with an old Christmas classic is “not right.”

The original song had sparked controversy in recent years due to its suggestive lyrics, with many feeling the song sent the wrong message regarding concent.

Lyrics such as “Say, what’s in this drink?,” “I really can’t,” and “The answer is no,” have raised eyebrows, suggesting the female character in the song is not comfortable with what is seen by many as an “innocent” or “playful” back-and-forth between a man and a woman.
