Severely Burned Dog Has An Emotional Reunion With The Vet Who Treated Him

Animal cruelty is hard to witness, but it is those who rush to help that make all the difference. This is clear when it comes to this dog with severe burns when he sees the vet that treated him.

In West Palm Beach, someone reported that they saw a dog stuck and in need of help. However, when rescuers approached the dog, they realized he was not stuck like they had originally thought. Someone had tied him up. Not only was he tied up, but he was covered in severe burns. He had been the victim of a fire on the campsite. He was in a lot of pain and very clearly distressed.

The 2-year-old pup was rushed to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue to receive treatment. He was going to need a lot of medical care and treatment in order to recover. In order to receive all the love and care he needed, they transferred him to Jupiter Pet Emergency & Specialty Center when he was stable.

While there, the staff kindly named him Smokey.

Dr. Latimer was the main vet that took care of Smokey. He was involved in all of Smokey’s treatments and was there with him through it all. After a few weeks, Smokey made great improvements physically and emotionally. He grew close with Dr. Latimer. Once he was healed enough, he was fostered by the same rescuer that found him.

Today, Smokey’s future is looking bright. He is in great care and no longer tied up. Investigators are still looking into who is responsible for his burns. Smokey recently went back to the clinic that treated him for his burns. It is clear when he sees Dr. Latimer, he recognizes him immediately. He went right up to Dr. Latimer and showered him with kisses. He embraces the doctor and his tail is wagging like crazy.
