Sam Elliott And Wife Dazzle In 'Wonderful' New Pictures Taken To Celebrate Only Daughter’s Day

Sam Elliott isn’t only a great actor – he is also a devoted husband and father to his beautiful wife and daughter and puts his family above all else. For him, his daughter is his world. Sam is a veteran character actor best known for his work in the Western genre. His most popular roles include The Stranger in “The Big Lebowski” and Virgil Earp in “Tombstone.” 

Sam’s father was a predator control specialist, while his mother was a teacher. Although his father was not keen on Sam pursuing an acting career, he remained steadfast in chasing his dream. Sam’s father always wanted him to finish his college degree, which he did after his dad passed away from a heart attack. He said of his father: 

“He was a realist, my dad. He was a hard worker. He had a work ethic that I’ve fashioned mine after, and I thank him for that every day.” 

Sam began his career playing minor characters in “The Way West” and “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” The actor’s breakout film role was in the 1976 drama “Lifeguard,” one of his few projects not in the Western genre.

In 2017, Sam starred alongside his wife, Katharine Ross, in “The Hero,” but that wasn’t the first film project that Sam got to work on with his wife. Ross starred in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” while Sam was only an extra in the film, so they didn’t get to officially meet until 1978 when they were both cast in leading roles in the movie “The Legacy.” The couple got married in 1984 and shares a daughter.

The couple’s daughter celebrated her 39th birthday on Sept. 17, 2023, and posted beautiful pictures of herself and her parents. Keep reading for the details.

Ross was born on Jan. 29, 1940, in Hollywood, California. Her family eventually settled in Walnut Creek, also California. After high school, Ross moved to San Francisco to study acting. There, she joined The Actors Workshop, where she had the opportunity to perform in many stage productions.

While studying acting in San Francisco, Ross got her first introduction to the world of television. 

“I did hear about a casting call for the TV series ‘Sam Benedict.’ They were shooting in San Francisco and wanted to cast someone local. I had two very nice scenes with the star Edmond O’Brien, so that’s not too shabby,” Ross shared. 

In 1967, she made her breakthrough with a pivotal role in the iconic film “The Graduate.” Her portrayal of the conflicted and independent Elaine earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. 

As such a stunning woman, it’s no wonder Ross has attracted so many suitors. Before settling down with Sam, she had walked down the aisle with four men. Sam and Ross have now been married for 39 years and are still going strong. The Mercury News asked Ross if it was Sam’s voice, mustache, or rugged good looks that won her over, and she responded: 

“Probably all that and more. We were working together and one thing led to another. And here we are.”

Sam also revealed the secret to their long-lasting union to NPR. He said:

“I think really what it boils down to is we love each other, and we work at it. And I think more importantly than anything, it takes wanting to be married. The two things that I wanted in my life were to have a movie career and to be married, to have a family. And it’s an embarrassment of riches that I’ve got both.”

Sam and Ross’ daughter, Cleo Rose Elliott, is a musician who takes after her dad’s love for music. She shared that her parents were happy for her and didn’t force her to become an actor like them. She is engaged to Jacob Rosenbaum, who constantly posts pictures of his love interest on Instagram. 

“@cleoroseElliott gives me butterflies 🦋🦋🦋🦋,” he captioned a carousel that showed a loved-up photo of them with some pictures and a clip of butterflies on May 15, 2023.

Cleo celebrated her 39th birthday with her parents and fiance at a beachfront restaurant on Sept. 17, 2023. She posted photos of the occasion on her Instagram. The first two images were of her posing with her blonde hair and brown floral patterned dress. The third picture in her carousel showed her posing with her fiance, while the fourth was of her parents sitting and smiling.

Rosenbaum also celebrated his fiancee and posted a picture of her on Instagram on her birthday. “Birthday girl!!” he captioned an image of his woman bent over a box of goodies with candles on some. 

Fans of the actors and their only daughter loved the family pictures and expressed their delight about sharing the moment with them.

“Happy Birthday .. that’s a beautiful dress and you look amazing in it 🔥❤️,” someone wrote. 

Another person gushed over the actors, “Your parents are wonderful!”

“Happy birthday Cleo Rose ! Enjoy and have fun with your family ! Beautiful pictures. God bless you all 🙏🎂🎉🍾🥰,” another user commented.

A fourth person wrote, “Happy birthday- everyone looks great! 🎂🎉🎁.”

Another fan called Sam a “national treasure” and gushed over Ross and Cleo as well.
