Ryan Reynolds Praises Blake Lively & His Girls For Being Superheroes And The ‘Most Capable People’ He Knows

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have enamored their fans since they married over a decade ago. The delightsome pair met on the set of “Green Lantern,” and although they remained friends for a while, they soon found their way to each other and have been going strong ever since. 

Reynolds and Lively are parents to four children, three girls and a fourth baby they welcomed in February 2023, whose sex and other details have remained under wraps. The couple has always managed to keep their kids out of the spotlight. They also try as much as possible not to release details about them for as long as they can. The actors value privacy so much that they don’t even like to check the sex of their babies until they are born. 

The “Deadpool” actor and “The Age of Adaline” actress also constantly keep their fans entertained with their subtle jabs at each other online, as well as their entertaining and down-to-earth videos and interviews. Moreover, they make sure to gush about each other in interviews and at awards ceremonies and to appreciate each other’s efforts. With all that goes on with them, the twosome appears to be having a great married life.  

In one of his interviews, Reynolds didn’t hide his appreciation for his family. He gushed, not only about his wife but also about his girls saying they were the most capable people he knew. The “Green Lantern” actor disclosed this during an Access Hollywood interview on YouTube with Mario Lopez’s kids on Nov. 13, 2020, when they asked him if his wife and daughters are the superheroes in his family. Reynolds and Lively are proud parents of their children, although parenting sometimes takes its toll on the duo. It’s not uncommon to see the lovebirds poking fun at each other on social media over being exhausted from taking care of their large brood. Their fatigue is not out of place as they combine their full-time acting jobs with several entrepreneurial ventures in addition to parenting four children. 

It appears that their experience of coming from large families has helped them adjust to the rigors of having a large family. Reynolds is the last of four boys, and Lively is the last of five children herself. She also got a lot of practice from caring for her siblings’ children, as she told E! News in 2014.

“I’m always the person who’s taking everyone else’s kid and putting them on my hip, so I’ve kinda always been a mama. So, we’ll see,” she told the outlet. 

Lively has taken to parenting well. She also taught Reynolds how to parent their diverse brood. Their first daughter, James, was named after Reynolds’s dad. She made her first celebrity appearance on Taylor Swift’s “Reputation” album in 2017.

Meanwhile, Reynolds used to joke that his second daughter Inez had a spunky personality and a “dark side” to her. Lively also disclosed that while James took to being a big sister to their third daughter Betty quite well, Inez had trouble adapting to the change. Due to Lively’s friendship with Swift, her first three children have been referenced in the singer’s tracks. Although the couple has kept mute about their fourth child, Reynolds referenced the baby when discussing the idea for his new show designed to make everyone sleep. He said the idea was born on the same day as the baby.

Reynolds, who doesn’t hide his love for his family, talked about his girls on Nov. 13, 2020, during an Access Hollywood interview on YouTube with Mario Lopez’s kids, Gia and Dominic Lopez. Despite how troublesome his daughters can be, the actor loves being a girl dad. 

“I have three daughters, which I never in a million years would imagine,” Reynolds told Lopez’s kids during their interview. “I come from all boys. I have three older brothers. I'm the youngest of four boys, so for me to have three daughters has just been such a ride, and I love every second of it.”

When the hosts asked him if his wife and daughters were the superheroes in his family, the “RIPD” actor answered: 

“No joke, they are like the most capable people I know. So I think if anything got crazy or scary in my life, they are the first people I would lean on because they have wisdom and strength, and they’re calm under fire. They have courage under fire.”

Reynolds also revealed that he and Lively treat their family as the ultimate. He disclosed that they always try to be available for the kids. 

“I try to be as present as possible,” the dad of four explained. “We don’t split up, like, I shoot movies, and my wife shoots movies, and we go travel all over the place, and we just all go together. I think that’s been the best part of it is that we really don’t spend a lot of time apart. I get to spend a lot of time with my girls.”

Meanwhile, Reynolds proved how knowledgeable he was about his kids when he was asked which character in “Croods” would be their favorite, and he replied that it would be Belt.
