Rumer Willis’ Daughter Got Her Name From A Texting Mishap And She Feels That It Was A ‘Divine Intervention’ Moment

Bruce Willis is best known for his time as an actor. Sadly, the star announced his retirement on March 30, 2022, but has since received plenty of support from his fans, friends, and family members. 

Bruce had been a pivotal figure in the acting world for more than 40 years, which is why fans and loved ones were left heartbroken when they heard the news that he was retiring. 

The actor has been married two times and is the father of five daughters. He first married actress Demi Moore in 1987, and the two had three daughters together: Rumer Willis, Scout Willis, and Tallulah Willis. The pair ended up divorcing in 2000 but have remained good friends and great co-parents ever since.

His daughter, Rumer, has gone on to become a star in her own right. Born on August 16, 1988, Rumer grew up with a similar love for the entertainment industry, just like her famous parents. She has appeared in films and TV shows, including “Hostage,” “The House Bunny,” “Sorority Row,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” and “90210.”

With Bruce experiencing memory loss, among many other health bouts, the Willis household is in need of a light of joy in their lives. After a very public pregnancy, Rumer has finally given birth to her first daughter Louetta, as shared on her Instagram account in April 2023. The post garnered hundreds of thousands of likes and countless comments from fans and friends who wished her well.

The actress went on to reveal the origin of her firstborn’s name, and it appears that it was a happy mistake.

Rumer Willis, who was 34 years old at the time when she gave birth to her lovely daughter Louetta, spoke in an interview with People Magazine to give fans an insight into why she and her partner, Derek Richard Thomas, decided to name their baby “Louetta.”

She mentioned in the conversation that the name they came up with was not really the first name they had in mind when she was still pregnant. 

At first, they agreed to name the baby “Loretta,” and there was a moment when they were texting when Derek made a mistake and left the “R” out of the baby’s name, which resulted in “Louetta.”

Rumer shared her thoughts about the happy accident, and she mentioned that she was happy at the time. The actress also noted that it was a “divine intervention” moment for them as incoming parents at the time.

“I was like, ‘Oh, I love that!’ I feel like it was one of those kind of divine intervention universe moments, and we figured it out actually quite early in my pregnancy,” she said.

Even though she was happy with the name “Louetta,” there were moments during her pregnancy when she became worried and scared about whether the name would fit their baby or not.

“I love this name, but oh man, is it going to be her name? Is it the right name? What if she comes out and doesn’t look like this?” she explained.

The actress later noted that she fell in love with the name they came up with during the early stages of her pregnancy, but things changed when she became worried that “it wouldn’t work.”

Fortunately, all of her worries went away the moment Louetta was welcomed into the world because she was going to name her Lou no matter what her gender was.

Further giving fans an explanation about the name of their baby girl, Rumer said she and her partner liked the name Louetta because it was versatile.

They also considered her future if ever the time comes when she doesn’t want to use the name Louetta.

“She can go by Lou, she can go by Etta. She can go change it up throughout her life. Whatever she wants,” Rumer added.

Aside from being a new mother to her baby, the actress balances her life as a mom and a daughter to her ill father, Bruce Willis, who was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022. 

In 2023, his family announced that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, which affected his language and comprehension.

In June 2023, Bruce celebrated Father’s Day for the first time as a grandfather.

Rumer took to her Instagram account to share a photo of her father holding baby Louetta, and it was a heartwarming moment for her.

“Seeing my father hold my daughter today was something I will treasure for the rest of my life. His sweetness and love for her was so pure and beautiful,” she wrote in the caption.

The actress then expressed her gratitude to her dad and added that she’s thankful to him for being the “silliest, most loving, coolest Daddio a girl could ask for.”

In addition to Bruce, Rumer also greeted her husband with a happy Father’s Day at the time, as it was his first time celebrating the annual occasion.
