Royal Fans Believe Prince William Looks More And More Like His Mother Princess Diana Every Day

Princess Diana, the "people's princess," was one of the most prominent figures of the royal family due to her class, glamour and kind heart. She was known for her impeccable sense of fashion, her charitable ways and her overall friendliness and charming personality with everyone around her. Loved by many, Diana was easily a topic of conversation and the center of attention wherever she went.

Born into the British nobility, she grew up close to the royal family and later married into it when she married King Charles III (then Prince Charles) in 1981, thus making her the Princess of Wales. The general public had a fondness for the new princess and took to her very well.

Together, Diana and Charles had two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. However, the couple’s marriage was full of problems, leading to a separation in 1992 and a divorce in 1996. Diana died on Aug. 31, 1997, from the injuries she sustained in a car crash in a tunnel in Paris, France.

Although Princess Diana tragically passed away, her legacy has lived on over the 25 years since her passing. Known as an icon for her fashion, poise and motherhood — Princess Diana was a one-of-a-kind royal family member. She wanted to be known for more than the glitz and glamour that came with her public outings and role, but rather for being an outstanding mother. 

Years after her passing, now that her sons are grown, many royal fans believe that her eldest son, Prince William looks strikingly like his late mother. With many events following Queen Elizabeth II’s death, Prince William has had several pictures circulating the internet that royal fans can’t help but compare to Princess Diana. 

Following Queen Elizabeth II’s death on Sept. 8, 2022, the royal family attended several events dedicated to the late queen's honor. Many fans could not help but notice how William, Prince of Wales turned from a boy into a man and how much he resembles his mother in his older age. One Twitter user shared that Princess Diana would be very proud of her eldest son. 

“Prince of Wales leaving Westminster Hall after standing guard at Queen’s coffin for 15 minutes. William’s facial so similar to his late mother, Princess Diana. Must be proud of her son as he is the heir to the throne #PrinceWilliam #PrinceofWales,” the tweet read.

Another royal family fan shared the same sentiment on Twitter. "Prince William looks so much alike his mom Princess Diana. The resemblance is uncanny. She must be so proud of him indeed. #PrinceofWales” they wrote. 

One fan shared that he not only looks like Princess Diana but also like other people who have passed in the royal bloodline. “He really looks like Diana but also previous kings,” the fan wrote. 

Someone else compared Prince William’s facial features to that of his mother. “Prince William has his mother Diana's face. Same shape, nose, eyes, even the look, they are like two drop of water. They even share the same zodiac sign,” they shared. 

The prince doesn’t just have his mom’s facial features, but he also shares a lot of the same worldly sentiments as her. Both his late mom and the prince put a lot of their life's work into helping others.

According to Nine, as long as Prince William is around, Princess Diana’s philanthropic efforts will live on. Royal commentator, Katie Nicholl, said: "As long as William is there, even as an older man, as an older king, the fruits of his labour, such as work that he will do, the king that he will be is going to be ... the influence of Diana, the influence that she had on him from such an early age and throughout his adulthood, is there. You can't deny it."

The commentator added, "I think just the ethos of her philanthropy, her ideology of how the world could be philanthropic in a modern world, I think William will continue that throughout his tenure as Prince of Wales and reign as King."

Writing for The Big Issue in June of 2022, William shared that having all three of his children see good work done in the world is very important to him. 

"Homelessness is not an irrevocable fact of life. It is an issue that can be solved," he wrote. "In the years ahead, I hope to bring George, Charlotte and Louis to see the fantastic organisations doing inspiring work to support those most in need — just as my mother did for me," he said.

However, royal commentator, Nicholl said that she believes the large importance of Diana's legacy will fade out. "I think it probably will fade away when George is King, yeah, because it will be by that point a generation removed, and I think that we're looking at more than half a century's time," she said.
