One Big Obstacle

Although interracial marriage is common today, this dynamic couple's courtship occurred in the 1960s. When they wed in 1965, Leslie feared problems stemming from their racial difference. After much thought, Leslie decided that she wanted to become Mrs. Pratt no matter what curveballs life decided to throw her way.

In the May 1967 issue of the magazine Ebony, Leslie said:

"I mean it is a tremendous responsibility to take on a mixed marriage like ours."

Work Was Successful

Throughout their marriage, they both continued to work. In addition to Leslie's role in Roots, she appeared in a variety of television roles and films. Grahame continues to work on movies, most notably, Medical CenterOperation Delta Force 3: Clear Target, and Skyjacked.

Family Flourishes

The couple was pleased to welcome two children, Danielle and Justice, to their family. Although they are now grown, they continue to be close to one another. Danielle is an actress, and Justice enjoys sharing his own family's antics live on Facebook.

Since they all lead such busy lives, it can be hard to get together. Leslie and Grahame consider bringing their children to events a real treat. Pictures taken at the Tribeca Film Festival back in April of 2019 reveal big smiles and faces glowing with happiness.

The Secret To Staying Together

As is the case for every married couple, Leslie and Grahame have been through difficulties as well. One of the most challenging times happened when they declared bankruptcy in the 1970s. This occurred because the car wash they worked so hard to open didn't make enough money. Even after such a setback, this couple stayed together. While many would credit love, Leslie is quick to point out that they made it through the rough times because they were able to laugh with one another. Apparently, fun is the secret to forever.

Perhaps you have parents that are still soulmates, like Leslie and Grahame. The two are certainly a Hollywood couple to talk about. True love is something too good to keep hidden. Do you have a long-term love story that spans the decades? Let us know and be sure to pass this on to others!
