After more than five decades of captivating audiences across the globe with his remarkable voice and talent, Rod Stewart, the iconic raspy-voiced rockstar, has officially announced that he will no longer embark on large-scale world tours. At 79, the British singer-songwriter, known for hits like “Maggie May,” “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?,” and “Forever Young,” is ready to embrace a new stage of his life — one that doesn’t include the relentless grind of touring around the world.

The news marks the end of an era for the rocker, whose career has been defined by his legendary performances, globe-trotting tours, and his remarkable ability to sell out stadiums. For fans, the coming change is bittersweet. Stewart’s stage presence has always been larger than life, a masterful blend of charm, humor, and energy that belies his age. He is one of the icons who has continued performing incredibly well into their 70s. However, even icons eventually need to slow down, especially as he enters his 80s.

Stewart recently made the saddening announcement that his “One Last Time” upcoming tour will be his final large-scale world tour on Instagram.

“This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me,” Stewart wrote. “But I have no desire to retire, I love what I do, and do what I love.”

He also explained his desire to move onto “smaller venues and more intimacy” for future tours.

Rod Stewart took a moment to assure fans of his good health, fitness, and ability to perform unhindered by age.

“I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79,” he continued in the post.

Despite the unfortunate news that he will no longer be doing large-scale world tours, the iconic rocker still has plans to continue his remarkable career and is more than willing to entertain his fans on stage. Commenting on this, but also not saying anything definite, Stewart wrote:

“I’d like to move onto a Great American Songbook, Swing Fever tour the year after next…But then again, I may not.”

He cheekily signed off the announcement with “The Ambiguous Sir Rod Stewart.” Last year, the singer insisted that despite his desire to scale down on the performances, he was not taking his “songs to the cemetery and burying them” and was simply saying farewell to big tours in America as he had almost everywhere else. He explained that he was merely putting his songs to “rest a little while” by decreasing the size of his crowds.

The responses to his announcement were overwhelmingly positive, with fans encouraging him to continue doing what he loves and that he had their complete support. On the bright side, the rocker will have more time with his family — his wife, Penny Lancaster, eight children and eight grandchildren. There’s still more to expect from him, and this isn’t the last we’ve seen of the iconic star.
