"The Pioneer Woman" is a cooking show presented by Ree Drummond that features the star cooking for her family and friends. The show typically takes place at Drummond's ranch in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, but Drummond has also cooked at other places from time to time. Airing on the Food Network since August 2011, the show has reached a total of 15 seasons so far. The name of the series is also the same name as Drummond's personal blog where she shares her recipes, health journey and overall life experiences and updates.

With her own television show featuring the tasty recipes she cooks up for her family and friends, it's safe to say that food is a major part of Drummond's life. While Drummond has definitely stayed busy with "The Pioneer Woman" TV show and blog, she is also famous for being a food writer, photographer and author. She has written a children's book, an autobiography and, of course, plenty of amazing cookbooks.

Even though Drummond has marketed off her lifestyle as a wife and mother living on a ranch providing home-cooked meals for her loved ones, this wasn't the life she had always envisioned for herself. In fact, Drummond never pictured herself living on a ranch.

However, when Drummond married Ladd on Sept. 21, 1996, that all changed. Ladd is a fourth-generation member of a prominent cattle ranching family, and it was clear that these lovers were destined to live together on a ranch. Now, they have been married for just over 25 years, and Drummond has definitely embraced her life as a country gal.

Many people are familiar with Drummond as "The Pioneer Woman" and her for life on a ranch. While she makes country living appear calm, peaceful and serene on her show, Drummond has shared that it has its more chaotic moments. On Jan. 17, 2022, Drummond went to Instagram to share a video of a herd of cattle blocking the road by her ranch.

She posted the caption:

"A few cattle ranch reminders: First, it's really not all that quiet out here. Second, if you encounter cattle on the road, never come to a complete stop or they'll have you surrounded and you'll never be able to leave (particularly in the wintertime, when they think every vehicle is there to bring them food. Third, foggy icy mornings are eerily pretty. Fourth, cattle have very thick hides, which (when combined with being given extra hay and feed) generally allow them to withstand cold snaps. Fifth, it's really not all that quiet out here. (Did I already say that?)."

According to Showbiz CheatSheet, fans were excited to see more behind the scenes of Drummond's personal life and hoped more ranch adventures would be included in the newer season of her TV show. While many have become fond of her simple living ways, this wasn't always how Drummond imagined her life.

Drummond was born on Jan. 1969 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She grew up in a home overlooking a country club with her two brothers, Doug and Mike, and younger sister Betsy. However, as she got older, Drummond realized that she wanted a change and longed for a different life.

After Drummond graduated from high school in 1987, she decided to leave her country lifestyle behind and embrace city life in Los Angeles, California. There, she attended the University of Southern California. She first studied journalism, which came in handy later on when she started her food blog, but later switched to studying gerontology, which focuses on understanding all of the elements that go into aging. Drummond graduated in 1991 and had dreams of attending law school in Chicago, but that all changed when she met the love of her life, Ladd.

According to Showbiz CheatSheet, Drummond never saw herself living in Oklahoma for the rest of her life as she yearned to meet new people and find a way to have a different life. "Based on my brief time at home, I knew that an urban environment was where I belonged," Drummond said. "I missed the conveniences, the coffee shops, the take-out galore… I missed the anonymity of living in a city – the ability to run to the market without running into my third-grade teacher."

However, once Drummond met Ladd, her plans went in a different direction. According to Showbiz CheatSheet, the two met at a local Oklahoma bar when Drummond was visiting home. "I don't know how long we stood there in the first embrace of our lives together," she said. "But I do know that when that kiss was over, my life as I'd always imagined it was over, too." Drummond dropped her plans of going to Chicago, and instead, stayed in Oklahoma to begin her life with Ladd.
