The world lost one of its brightest stars on May 26, 2022, when Ray Liotta passed away in his sleep in the Dominican Republic. He was 67 years old at the time and was engaged to a woman by the name of Jacy Nittolo.
During his life, Liotta had an illustrious career. He was best known for his work as an actor and producer, specifically for playing the role of Henry Hill in the 1990 film "Goodfellas." The biographical crime movie was directed by Martin Scorsese and was based on the 1985 nonfiction book "Wiseguy" by Nicholas Pileggi, who also wrote the film's screenplay. Alongside Liotta, the film featured other notable stars such as Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Lorraine Bracco and Paul Sorvino. To this day, it is still regarded as one of the best films ever made.
However, Liotta's career was incredibly expansive and featured more than just "Goodfellas."
Born on Dec. 18, 1954, in Newark, New Jersey, Liotta grew up in a unique family as he was adopted and had adopted siblings, biological siblings and half-siblings. He studied acting in college and acted in many plays during this time before making it to the mainstream entertainment scene around the late 1970s.
Despite being one of the biggest actors in the world, Liotta revealed in an interview with Square Mile that he never really intended to have a career in the film industry as it was never his dream to become an actor.
He first had a job in construction, but when he joined the drama department, he enjoyed doing it to the point that he came back several times and got lead roles. At that moment, Liotta told himself that he was going to give acting a shot.
Ray Liotta had a wife named Michelle Grace, popularly known for being an actress and producer. The two tied the knot in 1997 and were blessed with a lovely daughter named Karsen Liotta.
Unfortunately, Ray died on May 26, 2023. He was 67 years old at the time of his passing. Deadline reported that the actor died in his sleep in the Dominican Republic.
During that time, the actor was reportedly filming a movie titled "Dangerous Waters."
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Ray's death was related to some of his health problems, such as respiratory insufficiency, pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs), and acute heart failure.
Following Ray's death, his only child took to her official Instagram account during Father's Day in 2022 to share a heartwarming tribute as she posted a photo of her younger self with her father.
"Those who knew him, loved him. You are the best Dad anyone could ask for. I love you. Thank you for everything," she simply wrote.
A month after his death, his ex-fiancé, Jacy Nittolo, also shared an emotional tribute to honor the late actor as she wrote, "It's hard to believe a month has gone by. There are no words to properly describe what one goes through with this type of unexpected loss. I miss him every second of every day."
Karsen's love for her father didn't stop in social media as she was also the one who received his posthumous Hollywood Walk of Fame star in February 2023.
During her speech, Karsen shared kind words about her late father, whom she considered a "one-of-a-kind actor and the best friend, brother, and father anyone could ask for.

Elsewhere in her speech, Karsen thanked those who closely worked with Ray when he was still alive, like Elizabeth Banks, who directed one of the actor's movies, as well as his co-star Taron Egerton in the series "Black Bird."
Towards the end of her speech, the actress appeared to be tearing up as she told the crowd, "If you had a Ray in your life, you're lucky. I love you so much. Thank you for your work and the imprint you left on me and all of those who love you."
After the ceremony, Karsen spoke with Fox News Digital to share some of her moments with her father as she told the outlet that he was very different from what he was portraying on screen as he was not a tough guy in real life.
She added that her father was "like a big teddy bear," and both of them told each other everything as the young actress considered her dad as her best friend who was there for her until the end.
"He always was, and he always will be," she added.
Even though Ray had already died, his legacy still continued as Karsen followed in his footsteps and had been working in the Hollywood industry since she was a baby.
According to her IMDb page, her first role was an infant of the main actor in the movie "A Rumor of Angels," released in 2000.
Since then, she has had several projects in film and television, like "Shades of Blue" in 2018, "A Rose for Emily" in 2018, "Hubie Halloween" in 2020, and she also starred in her father's series "Black Bird" in 2022.
