Everyone has heard of the name Sinatra, but most people don't seem to realize Ole' Blue Eyes had a very talented daughter named Nancy Sinatra. She was born in 1940 and began her singing and acting career in 1957.
And that Nancy Sinatra wrote a song we all know and love: 'These Boots are Made for Walking."

Initially, Nancy only experienced success in Japan and Europe, but in 1966 she recorded the iconic "These Boots are Made for Walkin" that hit the top of the lists in the US and UK.
Lee Hazlewood wrote the song, and he originally planned to record it himself. Nancy talked him into letting her record it instead, telling him that the song would come across as harsh and abusive if recorded by a man but not if recorded by a young woman. Hazlewood eventually agreed.

Nancy's recording of the song has appeared in several films, most notably in Full Metal Jacket and Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. It was also used in a marketing campaign by Goodyear without permission or attribution, and Nancy ended up suing them.
It has been covered by a number of other artists, including Megadeath and Duke Ellington, who had a full orchestra as back-up during the cover.
