Raccoon Reaches Into Pool But It's The Labrador's Move That Has Made Internet Fall In Love

Raccoons are not animals you'd think of as making good pets. They're rambunctious, nocturnal creatures.
They also carry disease and like digging around in the trash. Not the most appealing combination when you're trying to hang out by the pool.
However, for a raccoon named Tito (you can find his fan page here), his family doesn't mind. Tito is a very unique case: he was rescued when he was just a baby. Tito grew up playing with his family's chocolate lab, Penny.
So when it was time to play by the pool, both Penny and Tito were ready to jump in! Their family captured the touching footage. Tito decides to just go for it: he wants to play in the cool water, so he jumps in right away.

Penny is a little more cautious. But it's Tito's encouragement that helps Penny get over her fear. Penny jumps in after Tito and within moments the two are just splashing around. It's clear that they're the best of friends. Penny even lets Tito ride on her back!
You wouldn't think that a raccoon and a dog would get along so well. Maybe it's Tito's intelligence that makes it easier. You see, raccoons are actually quite smart. They were even used as test subjects for many experiments. These proved that raccoons can actually be smarter than dogs! Raccoons have a natural instinct for memory games.
That might be why Tito remembers how fun the pool is. Tito doesn't mind the water at all. Once Tito shows Penny it's safe, the dog is ready to swim, too.
Do you have any weird or unique rescue animals at home? Would you ever want to adopt a raccoon?
